Histogram Based Video Segmentation And Key Frame Extraction On Som And Dft, Songul Cecen
Histogram Based Video Segmentation And Key Frame Extraction On Som And Dft, Songul Cecen
Theses and Dissertations
A new key-frame extraction method, called "index-based retrieval (I-Base)", is presented based on DCT and SOM. It allows user to quickly find particular point within a certain domain and/or determine if the domain is relevant to the need. I-Base forms a hierarchy from the uniquely represented shots by using frames. Eventually the use of hierarchy leads to the generation of video content indexing. Doing so allows the user to map only the relevant section in the source with the request issued. The idea of 'just request-to-response mapping' prevents not only the unwanted information retrieval, but also saves time and bandwidth. …
Assessment Of Acgh Clustering Methodologies, Serena F. Baker
Assessment Of Acgh Clustering Methodologies, Serena F. Baker
Theses and Dissertations
Array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) is a technique for identifying duplications and deletions of DNA at specific locations across a genome. Potential objectives of aCGH analysis are the identification of (1) altered regions for a given subject, (2) altered regions across a set of individuals, and (3) clinically relevant clusters of hybridizations. aCGH analysis can be particularly useful when it identifies previously unknown clusters with clinical relevance. This project focuses on the assessment of existing aCGH clustering methodologies. Three methodologies are considered: hierarchical clustering, weighted clustering of called aCGH data, and clustering based on probabilistic recurrent regions of alteration within …

Sudden Gains In Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy For Eating Disorders, Adriane Ito De Queiroz Cavallini
Sudden Gains In Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy For Eating Disorders, Adriane Ito De Queiroz Cavallini
Theses and Dissertations
The present study examined whether or not the temporal pattern of symptom change defined as sudden gains is applicable to and has significant ramifications for understanding recovery from eating disorders. Sudden gains were defined as stable and clinically significant changes that take place between two sessions of treatment. Data for the current study were drawn from an efficacy study of CBT for eating disorders which included session-by-session measures of eating disorder symptomatology. Predictors of sudden gains were measured by an observer coded scale that included ratings of therapist use interventions, client change in behaviors and beliefs, client engagement, and homework …
The Political Economics Of United States Marine Aquaculture, Gunnar Knapp
The Political Economics Of United States Marine Aquaculture, Gunnar Knapp
ISER Reports
Government leasing and regulatory policies are critically important for the development of marine aquaculture to a scale far below its economic potential. Two extreme examples are the State of Alaska's ban on all finfish farming, and the absence of an enabling regulatory framework for aquaculture in offshore federal waters. This paper suggests five broad reasons for which U.S. policies have been unfavorable towards marine aquaculture: (1) Marine aquaculture is new and small; (2) Fish and marine waters are traditionally public resources; (3) Many Americans perceive potential negative effects of marine aquaculture without offsetting positive effects; (4) MGOs have systematically and …
