Sustainable behaviors, such as recycling, are increasingly important as the world's population continues to rise. While many attempts have been made at various institutions, recycling on a grand scale has yet to become a social reality. This study was designed to look at the three broad factors influencing an individual's recycling behavior: social pressure, knowledge base, and convenience. It was hypothesized that social pressure would have the greatest influence on an individual's recycling behavior, while not overlooking the importance of the other two factors. The present invention concerns the use of the protein RhoB and its variants to inhibit cancer cell growth, migration, invasion, metastasis, malignant cell transformation, and/or to modulate oncogenic signaling, wherein introducing RhoB directly, or indirectly via a nucleic acid sequence encoding RhoB, into a malignantly transformed cell or a cancerous cell decreases phosphorylation of Erk and Akt proteins inhibiting the PI3-kinase/Akt cell survival pathway and promoting apoptotic cell death. In one aspect, the compositions and methods of the present invention are used to inhibit the malignant transformation of cells by the oncogenes H-Ras, N-Ras, K-Ras, EGFR, or ErbB2, or to …

Apparatus, systems, methods and devices of an optical system for producing a laser beam having pitchfork profile. The system includes a laser source providing an input Gaussian beam, refractive optical lenses for converting the input Gaussian bean into a super Gaussian beam. A focusing lens focuses the super Gaussian beam, where by diffraction effect after the focusing lens, the beam profile near a focal spot is a pitchfork shaped beam. In an embodiment, the refractive optical lenses are plano-aspheric lenses. Tne pitchfork shaped beam is produced by passing the input Gaussian beam through plano-aspheric lenses to produce the super Gaussian, …

An optical combination includes a substrate, a linear polarizer on the substrate, and a first frequency selective surface (FSS) based elliptical polarization filter on the linear polarizer. The first FSS comprises at least one periodic pattern of spaced apart electrically conductive lines having a sub-wavelength line-to-line spacing orientated along a first axis. The pattern is operable to impose a phase differential for one orthogonal linear polarization state relative to the other linear polarization state for electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength between 400 nm and 1 mm, such as 1 um to 12 um. The paper aims to develop a new method to measure and assess qualitative parameters of a job in a simple, transparent, universal and timeless way. When evaluating a given feature, factor, object or subject, we weigh various quality and quantity criteria relative to the accepted pattern or value in a given organization, society or culture. When building a system of job evaluation in the organization, seven synthetic criteria were considered: knowledge, experience, wisdom, psychological and physical effort, intellectual effort, responsibility and cooperation. The need for reliable, high-throughput, mobile wireless communication technologies has never been greater as increases in the demand for on-the-go access to information, entertainment, and other electronic services continues. Two such technologies, which are at the forefront of current research efforts, are orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, their union being known simply as MIMO-OFDM. The successful performance of these technologies depends upon the availability of accurate information concerning the wireless communication channel. A structural Support system employs a modified inverted box girder design for improved performance and ease of fabrica tion. Each girder of a series of girders is formed with an upper flange section, a set of web sections extending from opposite lateral sides of the upper flange section, and a base section below the web sections. The base section includes individual flanged footings that project generally towards one another.
