A Southern Paradox: The Social Activism Of Adolphine Fletcher Terry, Stephanie Bayless
Theses and Dissertations
This thesis examines the motivations behind the social activism of Little Rock, Arkansas aristocratic matron Adolphine Fletcher Terry, the daughter of a Confederate soldier who became a devoted social activist for multiple groups of people, to answer the question, "Who is Adolphine Fletcher Terry?" Excerpts from Terry's unpublished autobiography "Life is My Song, Also," have been reproduced with added footnotes. Through these excerpts and the additional contextual analysis, the reader will see that Terry had a variety of motives behind her social activism ranging from boredom, to perceived obligations due to class and social status, to an overwhelming interest in …

The Anchor: 2009
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

A Study Of Transformational Change At Three Schools Of Nursing Implementing Healthcare Informatics, Revonda Leota Cornell
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The Health Professions Education: A Bridge to Quality (IOM, 2003) proposed strategies for higher education leaders and faculty to transform their institutions in ways that address the healthcare problems. This study provides higher education leaders and faculty with empirical data about the processes of change involved to implement the core competency of healthcare informatics. I chose the core competency of health care informatics as a base from which to conduct semi-structured interviews with faculty and college leaders at three schools of nursing intending to capture their stories about how healthcare informatics has been implemented, what strategies were used, and why …

Qualitative Research For Social Workers Or Social Work For Qualitative Researchers?, Dan Wulff
Qualitative Research For Social Workers Or Social Work For Qualitative Researchers?, Dan Wulff
The Qualitative Report
Deborah Padgett’s new edition of Qualitative Methods in Social Work Research significantly updates and expands her initial edition. This qualitative research text will be a welcomed addition to social work research courses. While becoming a more inclusive text with wide applicability for the research context today, the author only hints at some of the more contentious or evolving issues that continue to make the field of qualitative research challenging to traditional research approaches. Several places/issues of growth and evolution are suggested by this reviewer
