The project for the Grapevine Fire Department (GFD) has been undertaken in order to examine their fire response data in correlation to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Their set standards that they produce are not mandatory; however, they are ideal when measuring the efficiency of an organization, specifically fire departments. Therefore, the purpose of this project is to research and determine the level of compliance the GFD has within these set standards and to address any shortcomings. Strong Field Double Ionization Of H2: Insights From Nonlinear Dynamics, F. Mauger, C. Chandre, T. Uzer

Faculty Publications

The uncorrelated ("sequential") and correlated ("nonsequential") double ionization of the H2 molecule in strong laser pulses is investigated using tools of nonlinear dynamics. We focus on the phase-space dynamics of this system, specifically by finding the dynamical structures that regulate these ionization processes. The emerging picture complements the recollision scenario by clarifying the distinct roles played by the recolliding and core electrons. Our analysis leads to verifiable predictions of the intensities where qualitative changes in ionization occur. We also show how these findings depend on the internuclear distance. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Influence Of Cardiac Output On Oxygen Uptake Kinetics, Crystelle Kiyoko Grant

The purpose of this study was to evaluate increased cardiac output (Q) on oxygen kinetics at exercise intensities above and below the lactate threshold (LT). We hypothesized the increase in Q using head-out water immersion (HOI) while treadmill running would reduce the rate constant of the fast component and reduce the amplitude of the slow component of oxygen kinetics compared with land treadmill running. Subjects (n=10) performed two 6 min exercise bouts at a 15% below and above the LT on a land and underwater treadmill following rest.
