Enforcing Dividend Withholding On Derivatives, Reuven S. Avi-Yonah
Enforcing Dividend Withholding On Derivatives, Reuven S. Avi-Yonah
Articles
The United States imposes a 30 percent withholding tax on dividends paid to nonresident aliens. However, this tax is rarely paid by portfolio investors because they can swap into U.S. securities, receiving payments to match both capital gain and dividends. Treasury has ruled that swap payments have an origin in the taxpayer’s residence so there is no withholding obligation on payments that match dividends. The proposal would impose withholding tax on dividend equivalents on the ground that there is no policy justification for a distinction between dividends, substitute dividends under securities lending transaction (which are treated as dividends and are …

Analysis Of Current Flows In Electrical Networks For Error-Tolerant Graph Matching, Alejandro Gutierrez Munoz
Analysis Of Current Flows In Electrical Networks For Error-Tolerant Graph Matching, Alejandro Gutierrez Munoz
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Information contained in chemical compounds, fingerprint databases, social networks, and interactions between websites all have one thing in common: they can be represented as graphs. The need to analyze, compare, and classify graph datasets has become more evident over the last decade. The graph isomorphism problem is known to belong to the NP class, and the subgraph isomorphism problem is known to be an NP-complete problem. Several error-tolerant graph matching techniques have been developed during the last two decades in order to overcome the computational complexity associated with these problems. Some of these techniques rely upon similarity measures based on …
Research/Therapy: A Review Of Adele Clarke’S Situational Analysis: Grounded Theory After The Postmodern Turn, Daniel P. Wulff
Research/Therapy: A Review Of Adele Clarke’S Situational Analysis: Grounded Theory After The Postmodern Turn, Daniel P. Wulff
The Qualitative Report
Situational Analysis presents an iteration of Grounded Theory that incorporates the construction of a series of illustrative maps, conceptualizes a situation as inclusive of what usually has been considered context, and explicitly and systematically includes missing or otherwise silenced data. This review comments on how these attributes of situational analysis can also effectively inform the practice of family therapy. The potential of a research book to inform a clinical practice is an exciting development in advancing interdisciplinary studies and its related applications in the world.

High dietary intake of selenium or isoflavones reduces risk factors for prostate cancer. We tested whether combined supplementation of these two dietary components would reduce prostate cancer risk factors in rats more than supplementation of each component individually. Methods Male Noble rat pups were exposed from conception to diets containing an adequate (0.33-0.45 mg/kg diet) or high (3.33-3.45 mg/kg) concentration of selenium as Se-methylselenocysteine and a low (10 mg/kg) or high (600 mg/kg) level of isoflavones in a 2 x 2 factorial design. Pups consumed their respective diets until sacrifice at 35, 100, or 200 days. Male Noble rat breeders, …

School As A Center For Community: Establishing Neighborhood Identity Through Public Space And Educational Facility, Fred Goykhman
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
“Safety is an opportunity for people to open their minds” -Jin Baek, 2008
For my thesis I will design an education facility. That education facility will strive to meet with today's security needs and will provide a safe-feeling place for growth. In identifying the problem, I found two main causes for the described conditions in today's schools. They are improper adaptation and uniform building type.
Improper adaptation has to do with surface applications, rather than integrating with the social fabric of the school's communal requirements. Unfortunate incidents have caused the solutions to heightened security around schools to be fortressing and …

Can Waters Around Durney Key, Pasco County, Florida, Support Coral Recruitment To Artificial Substrates?, Kelley L. Anderson
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
To determine whether an artificial reef installation is feasible, there must be a thorough characterization of the habitat. An understanding of both small-scale and large-scale environmental processes is needed to determine factors that potentially will influence the reef. Large-scale processes include coastal circulation, wave climate, and sediment dynamics that take place over spatial scales of tens to hundreds of kilometers in the region of the reef. Small-scale processes include the physical characteristics in the immediate vicinity of the reef - the local current, wave and tide characteristics, temperature, salinity, and suspended and bottom sediments at a proposed reef site.

Cancer Patients With Pain: Examination Of The Role Of The Spouse/Partner Relationship In Mediating Quality Of Life Outcomes For The Couple, Mary Ann Morgan
Cancer Patients With Pain: Examination Of The Role Of The Spouse/Partner Relationship In Mediating Quality Of Life Outcomes For The Couple, Mary Ann Morgan
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
A diagnosis of cancer, regardless of type or site, raises much fear and loss of control for patients and their spouses. While being married is associated with lower mortality from a wide range of illnesses, including cancer, the quality of marital interactions and the relationship is the stronger predictor of health outcomes, rather than marital status. When people are faced with their greatest life challenges, they attach great importance to the behavior of their intimate partner, with trust being a key component of relationship quality, thus lending stability, and emotional and practical support. The purpose of this study was to …

The Remittance Environment In Nigeria, A. Englama
The Remittance Environment In Nigeria, A. Englama
CBN Occasional Papers
This preliminary study is on the remittance environment in Nigeria which became compelling because of low availability of information and empirical research on the subject. The need to obtain evidence-based information to drive policy formulation on remittances inflow which grew from US$1.4 billion in 2002 to US$17.9 billion in 2007 and tap its potentials to promote economic growth in Nigeria were the rationale for the study. An understanding of the drivers, inhibitors, characteristics, cost of transaction and channels of the flows would promote policy formulation to improve the remittance environment. The objectives of the survey were to examine current trend …

Generation Of High Speed, Linear Wavelength Sweeps Using Sampled Grating Distributed Bragg Reflector Lasers, Shane O' Connor, Michael A. Bernacil, Dennis Derickson
Electrical Engineering
Wavelength-tunable sampled grating distributed Bragg reflector (SG-DBR) lasers are used for telecommunications applications in which the laser is set to a communication channel and changed infrequently. SG-DBR lasers can be tuned to any wavelength over a 50 nm tuning range with fast transition times using a set of three control currents. This paper demonstrates generation of fast linear wavelength ramps covering the entire tuning range of the laser. Continuous and linear wavelength sweeps are achieved by applying three time synchronized waveforms to the front mirror, back mirror, and phase sections of the laser. Continuous wavelength coverage is achieved by appending …

The accident occurred because of carelessness of the deminer as he used chisel directly on the detected signal instead of [Demining group] standard excavating tool (scraper). The poor command and control is another contributing factor for this accident as he was not stopped by command group.
