Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems which control Australia’s critical infrastructure are currently demonstrating signs of vulnerabilities as they are being interconnected to corporate networks, essentially exposing them to malicious threats. This paper discusses the vulnerabilities associated with SCADA systems, as well as discussing various SCADA standards and initiatives that have been developed in recent years to mitigate such threats. The paper presents the requirement for a holistic SCADA security standard that is practical and feasible for each SCADA industry sector.

The paper explores the complexity of critical infrastructure and critical infrastructure failure (CIF), real life examples are used to discuss the complexity involved. The paper then discusses what Visualisation is and how Visualisation can be applied to a security situation, in particular critical infrastructure. The paper concludes by discussing the future direction of the research.

This report represents a thematic summary of findings from the Alagnak Wild River Resident Users Study, the final project in a larger series of studies conducted for the National Park Service (NPS) as part of the Alagnak Wild River Visitor Use Project. The National Park service administers the 56 miles of designated Wild River along the Alagnak in collaboration with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, which manages fish and wildlife populations along the river. A Model To Use Denied Internet Traffic To Indirectly Discover Internal Network Security Problems, Chet Langin, Hongbo Zhou, Shahram Rahimi

We propose a model for using firewall log entries of denied inbound Internet traffic for indirect discovery of local IP addresses that have security problems. This method is used successfully to discover two computers on the network of Southern Illinois University which were infected with malicious feral software, as well as two more IP addresses on the university network with other security problems.

In Blasted, Kane represents how incidents of rape highlight, exacerbate and solidify the unevenness of power distribution between men and women in the modern world and provides a new perspective at what we might call “rape in general” – a transhistorical phenomenon of rape as a practice of violence towards the female victim. Through a detailed analysis of the unique representational circumstances of the multiple scenes of rape, such as Cate’s meaningful absence in Ian’s scene of rape, the author of the essay comes to a conclusion that rape is and remains an engendered practice. There is an escalating demand in the area of cancer prevention and control for the development of novel agents and molecular targets that have potential to reduce the incidence of cancer. In this study, the JB6 mouse epidermal cell-culture based transformation model was used in efforts to identify novel chemopreventive agents and targets. The nucleoside transport inhibitor dipyridamole (DPM) showed potent chemopreventive activity against JB6 P⁺cells (tumor promotion sensitive). To probe the effects of DPM structural features on its antitumor promotion activity, the soft-agar colony forming efficiency assay was used to screen an in-house library of …

"From an originalist perspective, both camps have elements of truth on their side.
