Effects Of Sulpher Foam And Mycorrhizal Fungi On Eggplant Infested With Nematode (Meloidogyne Javanica) At Seed Or Seedling Stage, Nouri Al-Hassany, Hafidh Ibrahim

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and sulphur foam added either at direct seeding or at transplanting decreased the effects of nematode (Meloidogyne javanica) on eggplant growth, and improved plant health. Experiments were conducted to study the possible interactions between the Mycorrhizal fungi (Glomus mossae and Gigaspora spp.) and sulphur foam to control M. javanica on eggplant at seed or seedling stage. Experiment at seed stage treated with Mycorrhiza or sulphur foam alone or together stimulated the growth and reduced Nematode infestation significantly. Treated plant at seedling stage increased plant growth and reduced the number of galls /gm of root system. The interaction …

Bioremoval Of Chromium From Wastewater Of Tannery Factory In Iraq, Jamal K. Al-Abayachi, Harith J. F. Al-Mathkhury, Mahmoud B. Mahmoud

Bioremoval of chromium from wastewater of tannery factory in Iraq was studied. The bacteria Proteus vulgaris 7E showed an enhanced capability in biosorping chromium when its concentration increased in the solution, reaching a maximum of 476,7 mg/ ml out of 492 mg/ ml under optimum conditions at pH 6 and 50°C at one hour contact time and biomass of 1 mg/ml. The present results showed that dead cells of P. vulgaris 7E biosorbed 87.41 mg/ml of chromium in comparison with91.18 mg/ml of chromium biosorbed by living cells, this indicates the insignificant effect of physiological state of cells. A Study Of Some Biochemical Parameters In Patients With Β- Thalassemia, Israa G. Zainal, Maysoon K. Al-Shaikle, Shatha A. A Kadim

Serum levels of iron,copper,ceruloplasmin and transferrinewere estimated in three groups of patients with -thalassemia: 24 patients have splenectomy thalassemia major, 29 patients have non splenectomy thalassemia major and 19 patients have thalassemia intermedia , data were compared to normal and pathological controls (anemia and minor). There were significant increasein trace element levels in all studied groups of pateints as compared to normal and pathological controls. Also there wereasignificant increasein ceruloplasmin levels,While the result revealed that there were a significant decrease in transferrine levels in all groups ofpatients studied as compared to normal and pathological controls.The result also indicate that there …

The integrity of the endothelial monolayer is essential to blood vessel homeostasis and active regulation of endothelial permeability. The FGF system plays important roles in a wide variety of physiologic and pathologic conditions; however, its role in the adult vasculature has not been defined. To assess the role of the FGF system in the adult endothelial monolayer, we disrupted FGF signaling in bovine aortic endothelial cells and human saphenous vein endothelial cells in vitro and in adult mouse and rat endothelial cells in vivo using soluble FGF traps or a dominant inhibitor of all FGF receptors. The distinction of complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia from endometrial adenocarcinoma is often problematic. Foci of back-to-back arrangement of glands or foci of cribriform arrangement of glands smaller than 2.1 mm in diameter are considered insufficient for the diagnosis of endometrial adenocarcinoma by some authors, and sufficient to be diagnosed as endometrial adenocarcinoma by other authors. We refer to these foci as endometrial adenocarcinoma in situ. In this study, we evaluated findings in subsequent hysterectomy in complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia patients with and without adenocarcinoma in situ. Caspase-Cleaved Tar Dna Binding Protein-43 Is A Major Pathological Finding In Alzheimer’S Disease, Troy T. Rohn
Biology Faculty Publications and Presentations
The TAR DNA binding protein-43 (TDP-43) has been identified as a major constituent of inclusions found in frontotemporal dementia with ubiquitin-positive inclusions (FTLD-U) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). To determine a possible role for TDP-43 in Alzheimer’s disease (AD), a site-directed caspase-cleavage antibody to TDP-43 based upon a known caspase-3 cleavage consensus site within TDP-43 at position D219 was designed. In vitro, this antibody labeled the predicted 25 kDa caspase-cleavage fragment of TDP-43 without labeling full-length TDP-43 following digestion of recombinant TDP-43 with caspase-3 or treatment of Hela cells with staurosporine.
