This project is organized to develop the sales data mart for the purpose of reporting data. Data warehouses support online analytical processing applications by gathering the data from various kinds of source information in a multidimensional format. Developing this strategic information can be done with the ETL, which means Extract, Transform and Loading. Medievalism And Exoticism In The Music Of Dead Can Dance, Kirsten Yri Jan 2008

Medievalism And Exoticism In The Music Of Dead Can Dance, Kirsten Yri

Music Faculty Publications

In 1991, the alternative rock band Dead Can Dance released an album that caught the attention of music reviewers by constructing an aural allegiance to the Middle Ages. Suitably called A Passage in Time, the album was described as imitating medieval chant, troubadour music, Latin hymns and courtly songs and included Dead Can Dance’s hybrid medieval songs as well as performances of actual medieval repertoire. In modeling their songs and sounds after historical recordings of medieval music, Dead Can Dance also adopted some of the ideological parameters of these performances and historical reconstructions. Examining the output of Dead Can Dance …

The Future Of Licensing Music Online: The Role Of Collective Rights Organizations And The Effect Of Territoriality, 25 J. Marshall J. Computer & Info. L. 409 (2008), Neil Conley Jan 2008

The Future Of Licensing Music Online: The Role Of Collective Rights Organizations And The Effect Of Territoriality, 25 J. Marshall J. Computer & Info. L. 409 (2008), Neil Conley

UIC John Marshall Journal of Information Technology & Privacy Law

The current licensing regime practiced by collective rights organizations (“CROs”) is preventing rights holders from being able to reap the financial benefits that the Internet and digital transmissions of music can provide. The problem is that CROs license online music on a restrictive, national basis where the online transmission of music is worldwide, unrestricted by national boundaries. This territorially restrictive licensing system began in the nineteenth century and was practical for geographically limited methods by which music was played and transmitted. However, licenses to transmit music online or in the digital environment in general are restricted on a national basis …

Ledger Of Ann Dewitt Bevier (1762-1834), Early American Estate Manager And Mother, Sally M. Schultz, Joan Hollister

Accounting Historians Journal

The ledger that Ann DeWitt Bevier kept from 1802 until 1813 represents a rich primary source that provides perspective on how a rural agriculturalist and household head interacted with the social and cultural environment in the young American nation. Her accounting records expand the gendered history of economic life by illustrating the life and work of a woman who managed a farm, family household, brick kiln, rental property, and investments in financial instruments. The costs of educating her children were also detailed in the ledger, helping to inform us about the educational opportunities for females in early America.

The Effect Of Social Class On First -Year College Student Engagement And Satisfaction, Susan M. Mospens

All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Social class is the hidden diversity on most college campuses. Although extensive research has demonstrated that social class is a strong predictor of access to college, retention, academic performance and college completion in higherEducation, little is known about the effect of social class on the college student experience as measured by student engagement and satisfaction. Grounded in Bourdieu's work on social and cultural capital, the premise of this study was to explore the interplay of campus culture and student social class culture. The goal was to identify aspects of the campus culture that impede or encourage engagement and satisfaction and …

Anatomy Of An Arabetic Type Design, Saad D. Abulhab Jan 2008

Anatomy Of An Arabetic Type Design, Saad D. Abulhab

Publications and Research

Arabetic type design, like type design in general, should not be limited by rigid rules, other than those advocating open choice and user options. But as with all design fields, highlighting certain principles and guidelines is crucial to realizing a successful project. In an Arabetic font design environment, such guidelines and principles should reveal deeper understanding of various scripts visual and behavioral defining characteristics rather than mere traditional calligraphic and handwriting norms. A main goal of this study is to emphasize that designing Arabetic fonts is much easier than it is portrayed, and designers of all backgrounds should be more …

A Glimpse Into The Missional House Churches Of America, J. D. Payne Jan 2008

A Glimpse Into The Missional House Churches Of America, J. D. Payne

Journal of the American Society for Church Growth

Discussions of house churches in western contexts have been increasing over the last decade. Though one can speculate as to the reason for the interest and growth in this particular expression of the Body of Christ, few have attempted to study the present realities. For some time I heard of these simple expressions of the Church in countries throughout the world, but wondered if there were such churches in the United States that were evangelistic and involved in church planting. I wanted to know if there were more to house churches than the stereotypical small group of disgruntled believers huddling …
