OBJECTIVE: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a devastating brain tumor for which there is no cure. Adenoviral-mediated transfer of conditional cytotoxic (herpes simplex virus [HSV] 1-derived thymidine kinase [TK]) and immunostimulatory (Fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand [Flt3L]) transgenes elicited immune-mediated long-term survival in a syngeneic intracranial GBM model in rodents. However, the lack of a large GBM animal model makes it difficult to predict the outcome of therapies in humans. Dogs develop spontaneous GBM that closely resemble the human disease; therefore, they constitute an excellent large animal model. This study aims to evaluate human papillomavirus (HPV) prevalence and predominating genotypes in liquid-based cervical cytology samples from an Irish urban female population. In addition to use of routine cervical cytology testing, women are screened for HPV using the MY09/11 primers for the HPV L1 gene and primers for β-globin amplification in a multiplex format. Overall, 996 women between the ages of 16 and 72 years (average age: 35) are included in the study and HPV prevalence was 19.8%. Cytology results showed that 88.9% were normal, 9% borderline or mild dyskaryosis, 1.1% moderate dyskaryosis and 0.9% severe dyskaryosis. Human papillomavirus …

This project is a study in how a church would conduct long-range planning. The project is not the actual plan, but what the church did to work through the process developed by Dr. Frank Schmitt of Liberty Theological. The planning committee was made up of 12 members from the church who met regularly for one year to develop a plan for the next three years. They were trained by the writer in the methods proposed in the Schmitt plan. From that training developed the long-range plan that Corinth Baptist Church would later adopt.

Milner's teaching and scholarly interests and pursuits have been an extension of his core values. It is not coincidence that Milner's teaching and scholarship have centered on law and theology, public interest law, constitutional law, environmental law and Indian law, and that his public service has involved to a significant extent work for and support for nonprofit organizations serving the needy. Through his teaching, scholarship, and service, he has deepened his own knowledge and understanding while giving voice to his values and views. "Medical tourism" is the phrase used to describe the phenomenon whereby patients travel to a foreign country to consume medical services. This practice has gained momentum in recent years, largely due to accessibility and affordability issues plaguing the U.S. healthcare system. Notably, medical tourism has progressed from being only an option considered by uninsured or under-insured individuals to an option considered by employers as a means of reducing the cost of employee health benefits. From The Dead Hand To The Living Dead: The Conundrum Of Charitable-Donor Standing, Evelyn Brody

This Article examines the current confused state of the law that applies to the private enforcement of restricted charitable gifts, and describes the first steps toward a tailored legal regime that appears in the American Law Institute's draft project on Principles of the Law of Nonprofit Organizations,for which this author is reporter. That regime addresses not only standing, but also proposals for notification of the attorney general, time limits on private (but not attorney general) enforcement, and a circumscription of appropriate remedies in order to protect the charity. Several of the issues, however, will likely require a legislative solution.

Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is a new technology that promises to revolutionize the cable television industry. IPTV combines digital video technologies decades in development with the many advantages of Internet delivery, including cost and interactivity. The characteristics of IPTV that distinguish it from conventional cable television raise many regulatory questions. It is clear, however, that the decades-old cable franchising system, along with other cable-specific regulations, are a poor fit for IPTV. Wholesale application of these regulations could stifle the deployment of IPTV technology. Storytelling is one of humanity's oldest art forms and an enduring educational method. Stories can spark social change. Although storytelling is tacitly recognized in diverse social science domains as a communication medium used to powerfully transmit leadership vision and ideas, little empirical research has been reported about how a teller constructs and tells a story. Through qualitative, arts-based methods, this heuristic study examines and describes the lived experience of a storyteller composing and performing a tale on issues of peace, justice, and social change. While some organizations die when trauma erupts, others do not succumb. They live and even thrive. The purpose of this study was two-fold: 1. To learn from leaders their perspectives about key conditions that allow organizations to withstand and heal from organizational trauma; and, 2. To inform practice about building and strengthening these conditions in organizations. Participants were leaders who led their organizations during an organizational trauma or who came into programs after the trauma occurred to facilitate recovery.
