Muon-Fluorine Entangled States In Molecular Magnets, T Lancaster, S J. Blundell, P J. Baker, M L. Brooks, W Hayes, F L. Pratt, Jamie L. Manson, M M. Conner, J A. Schlueter

The information accessible from a muon-spin relaxation experiment can be limited due to a lack of knowledge of the precise muon stopping site. We demonstrate here the possibility of localizing a spin polarized muon in a known stopping state in a molecular material containing fluorine. The muon-spin precession that results from the entangled nature of the muon spin and surrounding nuclear spins is sensitive to the nature of the stopping site. We use this property to identify three classes of sites that occur in molecular magnets and describe the extent to which the muon distorts its surroundings.

• The Weed Sentry program surveyed more than 750 miles of federal lands in Clark County for invasive, exotic plant species.
• Weed Sentry also removed more than 600,000 individual invasive plants from federal
  lands. These removals represent pro-active efforts that may have forestalled large
  infestations difficult and costly to eradicate.
• In response to a request by the manager of the Fish and Wildlife Service Desert National
  Wildlife Refuge, a major effort of surveying springs for plant community composition
  and invasive plants provided unique knowledge services by the Weed Sentry program.

OXFORD, Miss. - After years of writing critically acclaimed scholarly publications, University of Mississippi faculty member Ajit Sadana says his latest effort has to be his proudest literary accomplishment to date. The professor of chemical engineering has co-authored the textbook "Fractal Analysis of the Binding and Dissociation Kinetics for Different Analytes on Biosensor Surfaces" with his eldest daughter, Neeti, a post-graduate (year three) anesthesiology resident at Jackson Memorial Hospital associated with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

OXFORD, Miss. - Preserving the past is often a relay effort from one generation to the next. Such was the case for former Memphian Nancy Martin, who has donated a collection of artifacts circa 1800s to the University of Mississippi. The Smith Collection, including original land deeds signed by two former presidents and Civil War love letters, belonged to Martin's uncle James Warders Smith Jr. They were found at his Memphis home following his death there Jan. 7, 2006, at age 80.

Historic Cairo is characterized by richness in Islamic heritage. Although attempts at conserving this heritage have been put forward in the past, efforts have been ineffective in some cases and, in most cases, unsustainable. Several problems and obstacles have been debilitating these efforts. This research project aims at providing practical insights on how these problems can be remedied and how the effectiveness of conservation efforts in Historic Cairo can be made more effective through the application of business concepts such as synergy and sustainability.

The emigration of highly skilled and educated Egyptian citizens has been on-going for decades and has had a relatively negative effect on Egypt’s development. Drawing on 100 Egyptian undergraduate students—both male and female – in order to gauge a rough estimate of the number of AUC students who plan on traveling and living abroad as well as their reasons for doing so. The research showed that 90% of students wished to live abroad. Programs and initiatives funded by the government have demonstrated an inability to deal with the growing demand for education. Due to a sheer lack of financial resources, primary schools have fallen back both on supplying basic necessities, such as books and stationary, and on delivering a quality of education on par with other countries in the region. Despite its shortcomings, the government remains the single largest financial contributor to primary school education in Egypt. Nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NLPHL) is a recently described type of Hodgkin’s lymphoma (HL) and accounts for 5-6% of all the cases of HL. Here we report the case of an elderly man who presented to Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Oman, with severe hypercalcemia, and was diagnosed to have stage IV NLPHL. Although the incidence of hypercalcemia is estimated to be between 1-5% in classical HL, to our knowledge this is the first report of NLPHL presenting with severe hypercalcemia. The patient responded to the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody, Rituximab, and has been in clinical remission for more than 3 …
