Should Wildlife Trapping Have A Place In A Christian Environmental Ethic?, Stephen Vantassel
Other Publications in Wildlife Management
Animal protectionist groups lobby for the banning of wildlife trapping because of its perceived cruelty and harm to the environment. This paper evaluates those claims and suggests that Christians carefully consider all the data before adopting an anti-trapping stance.

Três Efeitos Das Normas Sociais Sobre O Direito: Expressão, Dissuasão E Internalização, Robert D. Cooter
Três Efeitos Das Normas Sociais Sobre O Direito: Expressão, Dissuasão E Internalização, Robert D. Cooter
The Latin American and Caribbean Journal of Legal Studies
What determines whether state law is rational and efficient, or irrational and inefficient? State organizations suffer from agency problems that preclude effective motivation of people by formal means alone. Perhaps effective formal institutions depend on informal institutions. What is the effect of morality on law? This article distinguishes three effects of social norms on law: expression, internalization, and deterrence. The law, by influencing people's beliefs about what others will do, might play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the enforcement of social norms. Social interactions can have multiple equilibria whenever the net cost of obeying a norm decreases …

Sociology
Human dimensions research focuses on the interrelationships between humans and the environment. To date, human dimensions research in arctic regions has concentrated primarily on local events and contexts. As such, it complements analysis elsewhere of adaptation and sustainable development within broad institutional, social, and environmental contexts. This paper reviews five projects from the Human Dimensions of the Arctic System (HARC) initiative, established by the US National Science Foundation in 1997. Common themes and findings are highlighted: climatic variations or change affect societies through interactions with human activities; population dynamics provide key quantitative indicators of social impacts and well being; and …

Education Policy Analysis Archives (EPAA)
This paper is about the constitution of teacher teams in the Educación Secundaria, something proposed in the Ley Orgánica de Educación (LOE, 2006). First, a discussion of the disadvantages of organizing high schools by academic departments is presented, namely, the tendency of teachers to communicate mainly with those colleagues working in the same curricular area, the difficulties involved in the development of curricular projects that translate into globally coherent school experiences meaningful and relevant for the students, and the repercussions of such structures on the caring and support for students.
