Drought Effects On Large Fire Activity In Canadian And Alaskan Forests, Jingfeng Xiao, Qianlai Zhuang

Fire is the dominant disturbance in forest ecosystems across Canada and Alaska, and has important implications for forest ecosystems, terrestrial carbon dioxide emissions and the forestry industry. Large fire activity had increased in Canadian and Alaskan forests during the last four decades of the 20th century. Here we combined the Palmer Drought Severity Index and historical large fire databases to demonstrate that Canada and Alaska forest regions experienced summer drying over this time period, and drought during the fire season significantly affected forest fire activity in these regions. Mandates methods and practices for animal euthanasia in all public and private agencies sheltering stray or owner-relinquished animals. Requires mandatory holding periods and conditions that must be satisfied before any animal is killed. Mandates shelters to develop and follow care, cleaning, and disease-prevention protocols. Requires funds collected from dog license revenues to be used for free and low-cost animal sterilization and medical assistance programs. Requires that most animals adopted from specified agencies be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Creates reporting, tracking, and notification requirements. The focus of this study was the examination of communication issues in the field of law enforcement in order determine what effect if any, an officers’ organizational maturity has on their decision to utilize verbal and or non-verbal communications when performing their job, especially when interacting with citizens.

The scope of this study is limited, as the research is only concerned with the opinions of patrol officers regarding their ability to effectively communicate verbally and non-verbally.
