Spatial And Temporal Patterns Of Enzootic Raccoon Rabies Adjusted For Multiple Covariates, Sergio Recuenco, Millicent Eidson, Martin Kulldorff, Glen Johnson, Bryan Cherry
Zoonotics and Wildlife Disease: Publications
Background: With the objective of identifying spatial and temporal patterns of enzootic raccoon variant rabies, a spatial scan statistic was utilized to search for significant terrestrial rabies clusters by year in New York State in 1997–2003. Cluster analyses were unadjusted for other factors, adjusted for covariates, and adjusted for covariates and large scale geographic variation (LSGV). Adjustments were intended to identify the unusual aggregations of cases given the expected distribution based on the observed locations. Results: Statistically significant clusters were identified particularly in the Albany, Finger Lakes, and South Hudson areas. The clusters were generally persistent in the Albany area, …

Spice of Life -Or the Kiss of Death? On the Edge or Not? Some might say that a high stress of a stockbroker’s life is full of spice, but could it be the kiss of death. Interviewing a seasoned stockbroker revealed many criteria for the need of stress management. Annotated bibliographies about team management from the Weatherhead School of Management Executive MBA Class of 2007.

Growth Factor-Mediated Telomerase Activity In Ovarian Cancer Cells, Yira Bermudez
Growth Factor-Mediated Telomerase Activity In Ovarian Cancer Cells, Yira Bermudez
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of gynecological cancer death in the United States. Even though no single genetic alteration can be attributed to all ovarian cancers, 90% of ovarian tumors express telomerase, a ribonucleoprotein that elongates telomeric (TTAGGG)n repeats de novo. In normal somatic cells, telomerase is absent. In cancer cells, the re-expression of telomerase allows senescence to be bypassed contributing to cellular immortalization, a key step for cellular transformation, making telomerase a potentially important target for therapeutic intervention.
Ovarian cancer cells secrete vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) that feedback through their receptors present …

Cornhusker Economics
Pork producers have enjoyed several years of profitable production. In 2002 we began keeping data on estimated breakeven cost and potential profits. Our data is based on an updated production budget for an efficient 1,200 sow farrow to finish unit. Corn and soybean meal costs are taken from the Chicago Board of Trade futures prices, to stay current with changing feed costs. For Nebraska feed costs, soybean meal is valued at the current board price and corn is valued at the board price plus a negative 30 cent basis.

Factors Influencing Zooplankton Distribution In The Chesapeake And Delaware Bays, Pia Marie Paulone
Factors Influencing Zooplankton Distribution In The Chesapeake And Delaware Bays, Pia Marie Paulone
Undergraduate University Honors Capstones
The Chesapeake and Delaware Bays are well known and extensively studied for their commercial value and environmental quality. There have been multiple studies based on salinity and temperature in these bays, but little is known about the influence of these factors on zooplankton distribution. Salinity has an effect on physiological processes, and, as a result, species have adapted for certain salinities. Temperature impacts both species physiology and primary productivity, which, in turn, impacts feeding rates of zooplankton. Based on previous studies on zooplankton distribution and current knowledge of physical variables, it was expected that salinity is the major variable in …

Germ-Line Chimerism And Paternal Care In Marmosets (Callithrix Kuhlii), C. N. Ross, Jeffrey French, G. Ortí
Psychology Faculty Publications
The formation of viable genetic chimeras in mammals through the transfer of cells between siblings in utero is rare. Using microsatellite DNA markers, we show here that chimerism in marmoset (Callithrix kuhlii) twins is not limited to blood-derived hematopoietic tissues as was previously described. All somatic tissue types sampled were found to be chimeric. Notably, chimerism was demonstrated to be present in germ-line tissues, an event never before documented as naturally occurring in a primate. In fact, we found that chimeric marmosets often transmit sibling alleles acquired in utero to their own offspring. Thus, an individual that contributes gametes to …
