Maximizing Resource Utilization By Slicing Of Superscalar Architecture, Shruti Ravikant Patil Jan 2006

Maximizing Resource Utilization By Slicing Of Superscalar Architecture, Shruti Ravikant Patil

UNLV Retrospective Theses & Dissertations

Superscalar architectural techniques increase instruction throughput from one instruction per cycle to more than one instruction per cycle. Modern processors make use of several processing resources to achieve this kind of throughput. Control units perform various functions to minimize stalls and to ensure a continuous feed of instructions to execution units. It is vital to ensure that instructions ready for execution do not encounter a bottleneck in the execution stage; This thesis work proposes a dynamic scheme to increase efficiency of execution stage by a methodology called block slicing. Implementing this concept in a wide, superscalar pipelined architecture introduces minimal …

Multi-unit restaurant companies with different annual revenues were categorized and examined for the extent of Internet usage in training; …

A Comparative Study Of Personality Traits Between Video Poker And Traditional Pull/Push Machines Players, Jungjin Hwang Jan 2006

A Comparative Study Of Personality Traits Between Video Poker And Traditional Pull/Push Machines Players, Jungjin Hwang

UNLV Retrospective Theses & Dissertations

Since the first spinning-reel slot machine was invented in 1895 by a German-born mechanic and installed in San Francisco taverns (Span 2003), machine games have enjoyed popularity among gamblers. Two main types of slot machines dominate the market: video poker machines, and the more traditional pull/push machines. Previous research suggests that video poker players and pull/push slot gamblers have different motivations for playing. In our study we looked at whether or not video poker and slot players have different personality traits as measured through Cattell's 16 Personality Factors. The findings showed that video poker players presented a more dominant personality …

Computational Modeling Of Proton Exchange Membrane Electrolysis Cell For Hydrogen Production, Shanthi P Katukota

UNLV Retrospective Theses & Dissertations

Numerical simulations of electrochemical process for hydrogen production were performed for the purpose of examining the phenomena occurring within the proton exchange membrane (PEM) water splitting cell. A steady-state isothermal two dimensional model of the cell is developed. Finite element method was used to solve the multi-component transport model coupled with flow in porous medium, charge balance and electrochemical kinetics; Parametric studies were performed based on appropriate mass balances, transport, and electrochemical kinetics applied to the cell. It is observed that, as the water on the anode side flows from the inlet to the outlet, the mass fraction of oxygen …

Post-Implant Dosimetry Analysis Of Brachytherapy Patients Using Pre And Post-Implant Mri, Deana Lee Tuttle Jan 2006

Post-Implant Dosimetry Analysis Of Brachytherapy Patients Using Pre And Post-Implant Mri, Deana Lee Tuttle

UNLV Retrospective Theses & Dissertations

Post-implant dosimetry analysis is a critical step in brachytherapy for identifying the quality of the implant based on seed localization in relation to the volume of the prostate. However, the accuracy of post-implant dosimetry analysis is dependent on accurate delineation of the prostate from surrounding tissue in post-implant CT images. Research has shown that adequately delineate the prostate from surrounding tissue in CT images is difficult, resulting in significant variation between the dose received by the prostate and the dose prescribed by the physician. This research compared prostate volumes delineated from pre-implant US, post-implant CT, and pre and post-implant MR …
