Clinical Registered Dietitians, Employers, And Educators Are Interested In Advanced Practice Education And Professional Doctorate Degrees In Clinical Nutrition, Annalynn Skipper, Nancy M. Lewis
Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences: Faculty Publications
A subset of registered dietitians (RDs) is known to practice at an advanced level, but a clear educational pathway supporting advanced medical nutrition therapy practice has not been identified. Thus, an electronic survey was designed to investigate interest of clinical RDs, employers, and educators in advanced practice competencies and professional doctorate degree programs in clinical nutrition. Usable responses were obtained from 440 of 978 (45%) RDs, 61 of 107 (57%) employers, and 76 of 114 (67%) educators. Mean interest (5 = very interested, 1 = very uninterested) in obtaining advanced practice education was highest among RDs (3.93 ±1.01) and was …

Solar Dhw Storage Tanks And Systems, Florida Solar Energy Center
FSEC Energy Research Center®
Water is by far the most common storage medium in solar domestic hot water systems. Rock storage is another method of sensible heat storage, but is not generally used in systems that are exclusively DHW. Storage of heat in solutions of phase-changing salts is extremely rare in DHW systems and therefore is not discussed.

Interpretation Of Cone Penetration Tests In Cohesive Soils, Kwang Kyun Kim, Monica Prezzi, Rodrigo Salgado
JTRP Technical Reports
This report focuses on the evaluation of the factors affecting cone resistance measurement during cone penetration in saturated clayey soils and the application of the result to pile shaft capacity analysis. In particular, effects of drainage conditions around the cone tip were studied. Rate effects related to both drainage and shear strength dependence on loading rate were studied. In order to investigate the effects of drainage during penetration, penetration tests were performed with various velocities in the field and in a calibration chamber, and the obtained data were analyzed. For the field tests, two sites which have homogeneous clayey soil …

Masyarakat Konsumen Sebagai Ciptaan Kapitalisme Global: Fenomena Budaya Dalam Realitas Sosial, Selu Margaretha Kushendrawati
Makara Human Behavior Studies in Asia
Global capitalism, which is born in the globalization process, has created consumption culture and consumer society— whose existence is seen just in the differences of their consumption commodities, and on and on consumes the signs and social status that marked on the commodities. In itself, global capitalism has the progressive-power which can help us in our daily live. However, the same progressiveness could bring the world in the unrecoverable and uncontrollable progressiveness. Progressive-power that inherent in the global capitalism has the tendency to lead the world into undetermined, injustice and hegemonic situation. This paper would discover this global capitalism phenomena, …
The Critique Of Arab Thought: Mohammed Arkoun's Deconstruction Method, Siti Rohmah Soekarba
The Critique Of Arab Thought: Mohammed Arkoun's Deconstruction Method, Siti Rohmah Soekarba
Makara Human Behavior Studies in Asia
Mohammed Arkoun is one of international modern Islamic thinkers that his thought comes into Islamic thinking discourses in Indonesia recently. His Islamic thought was influenced by the modern philosophical concepts such as ‘myths’ of Ricouer, postmodern concepts like ‘discourse’ and ‘episteme’, which were developed by Foucault as well as ‘deconstruction’ of Derrida. If Derrida focused on deconstruction as a final concept, on the other hand Arkoun insisted that ‘deconstruction’ must be followed by ‘reconstruction’ of a discourse. Arkoun’s reconstruction leaves the limitation, the rigidity and deviation from the past. Arkoun proposes two ways: firstly it is ‘ijtihad’ and subsequently it …

Is Consumer Court Really Preferred To Banking Ombudsman? An Analytical Study, Aparna Meduri
ExpressO
The Banking Ombudsman under the Banking Ombudsman Scheme and the Consumer Redressal Authorities under the Consumer Protection Act both redresses the cases on deficiency of banking service. However, there exists a difference both in terms of redressal machinery and the procedure for redressal. This article brings out an analytical study, makes an attempt to give out the reasons why most of the aggrieved bank customers prefer to take shelter under the Consumer Protection Act instead of under their Banking Ombudsmen Scheme, and finally the proposed remedy for it.

Torture As A Problem In Ordinary Legal Interpretation, Alan Hyde
Torture As A Problem In Ordinary Legal Interpretation, Alan Hyde
Cornell Law Faculty Publications
American legal discourse on torture takes for granted some, usually all, of the following propositions, that make discussion of torture more difficult than it should be. Torture is assumed to present unusually difficult problems of definition, full of vague concepts, fine lines, gray areas, murky moral dilemmas, "dirty hands." This vagueness is thought to be even more of a problem for the attendant concept of "cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment." The legal sources of either prohibition are assumed to be dubious under American law. Prohibiting torture is, perhaps for these reasons, thought to require moral justification not necessarily required of …

Personal Health Records: The People's Choice?, Lisa Sprague
National Health Policy Forum
Information technology (IT), especially in the form of an electronic health record (EHR), is touted by many as a key component of meaningful improvement in health care delivery and outcomes. A personal health record (PHR) may be an element of an EHR or a stand-alone record. Proponents of PHRs see them as tools that will improve consumers’ ability to manage their care and will also enlist consumers as advocates for widespread health IT adoption. This issue brief explores what a PHR is, the extent of demand for it, issues that need to be resolved before such records can be expected …
