Mucopolysaccharidoses are a group of inherited disorders occasionally accompanied by cervical spine involvement complicating tracheal intubation. In this study, we review and discuss 5 cases of mucopolysaccharidosis with cervical spinal involvement.

This thesis is framed within the broad study of film theory and analysis. It is my research into the representations of teenage females in mass media films made and released in the USA and Australia in the years before and after the Sexual Revolution of the 1960s and Women's Liberation Movement that began in the 1970s. This work is significant primarily in that it is an analysis specifically of teenage females who feature as lead characters in films. The note examines the legal challenges surrounding reality pornography, particularly through the lens of the Girls Gone Wild series, highlighting the tension between First Amendment protections for producers and the rights of participants. It argues that the legal framework governing consent, exploitation, and contractual agreements in this context is unclear and often fails to protect participants, many of whom face severe consequences. The analysis underscores the complexities of balancing public interest, contractual capacity, and the rights of minors in this lucrative yet legally fraught industry.

As a cure for what ails democracy in a pluralistic modem society, such as ours, Michael Sandel recommends "dispersing" sovereignty to a "multiplicity of [civic republican] communities--some more, some less extensive than nations." He intimates that doing this "may entail according greater cultural and political autonomy to subnational communities," which, in turn might "ease the strife that arises when state sovereignty is an all-or-nothing affair, absolute and indivisible, the only meaningful form of self-determination." This thesis was written to provide an alternative teaching model for an undergraduate theatre history class. The course design, utilizing the Problem-Based Learning educational model, aims to create a student-centered, experiential theatre history class. The first section explores the history and evolution of the theatre discipline in academia. These chapters examine the expansion and transformation of the theatre curriculum within the discipline and higher education. The second part examines the history and the methodologies of Problem-Based Learning. This document contains over 700 entries of cello ensemble music written in the twentieth and the beginning of the twenty-first centuries by 530 composers from around the world. Pieces presented in this catalogue are largely original works. A few exceptions have been allowed mostly when the composer arranged his/her own piece. For each entry, as much of the available information as possible is provided in the following general order: composer name, composer dates, title of the piece, approximate duration, and availability. This qualitative study of an urban youth-led organization presents, from the point of view of the youth culture, how the organization contributes to the developing citizen identity of its members. The participants range in age from 13 to 21, represent a marginal, at-risk population, attend public and private schools in the metropolitan area, and run programs for their peers focusing on healthy behaviors and non-violence. The Board of Directors consists of 17 youth and 3 adults and employs an executive director and 3 other adult staff. The group raises money, to sustain programs, through fundraising and grant writing. This thesis chronicles the rise and fall of the EC (Entertaining Comics) group in the period 1950-1956. Its purpose is to determine, through a study of primary and secondary sources, to what extent the 1954 congressional inquiries concerning the harmful effects of comic books were the culmination of a series of personal and political vendettas against EC's publisher William Gaines, and to what extent these inquiries were part of a broad-based cultural crusade in which a perceived slippage of cultural values was counteracted by an imposition of regulatory strictures.

Joint ventures involving taxable and tax-exempt organizations, referred to in this article as "taxable-tax exempt joint ventures," engender conflict between the doctrinal requirements pertaining to tax exemption and the flexibility afforded joint ventures in Subchapter K.' The nonprofit partner must exercise ultimate governing control over the joint venture so that charitable goals take precedence over profit-seeking goals if the nonprofit's share of income is to remain tax exempt. On the other hand, a for-profit partner is entitled and indeed expected to pursue profit but its lack of control over the joint venture exposes the for-profit partner to greater risk of …

Fast Times At Ridgemont High And Porky’S: Gender Perspective In The Teen Comedy, Kerri Vanderhoff

This study examines gender representation in teen comedy with an emphasis on two films from the genre. Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) was directed by a woman, Amy Heckerling. Porky’s (1981) was directed by a man, Bob Clark. This research reveals the different ways male and female directors portray teenage girls and encourages a re-evaluation of the values conveyed to young viewers when the perspective represented in Hollywood entertainment films is predominantly male.

Paul Starr's The Creation of the Media presents modern policymakers with an important opportunity to consider the historical lessons of the telecommunications industry. This Book Review underscores how Starr's book richly explains some key components of U.S. information policy - such as relying on an integrated strategy of intellectual property, antitrust law, and telecommunications policy - and that some historical lessons are misplaced as to today's environment - such as a categorical skepticism of vertical integration. Moreover, Starr's account of telecommunications history explains that the U.S.'s success in promoting innovation in the information industries reflects our reluctance to manage key …

This article takes these critiques as a given. Incisive critical commentary on advertising and on marketing abounds, and exploring the false claims and schemes within a commercial culture is an essential and ongoing project. This critical approach, however, is not the end of the story, for armed only with skepticism, we are blinded to the dramatic commercial revolution offered by Selfridges, one that is intrinsically tied to British modernism. Selfridges embodies and deploys a surprisingly modernist set of tensions between low and high culture, and between the specter of the mass market and an alternative, non-commercial aesthetic.
