History Of Research On The Book Of Micah Chapters 4-5, Jun Kim Feb 2005

History Of Research On The Book Of Micah Chapters 4-5, Jun Kim

Master of Art Theology Thesis

The primary approach of this study is to examine the history of the applicable research and to analyze the various methods (approaches). We have divided selected scholars into two categories (diachronic and synchronic) according to their methods. As we examine each method, this thesis will investigate the authors' treatment of the Hebrew text. Rigorous comparison is difficult, because scholars read some verses as a group, usually following the biblical order of the text, but they do not all group texts in the same way.

As previously stated, synchronic approaches are relatively new; therefore, in this category, fewer scholars will be …

Linkage Of Free Trade And Social Regulation: Moving Beyond The Entropic Dilemma, Sungjoon Cho Feb 2005

Linkage Of Free Trade And Social Regulation: Moving Beyond The Entropic Dilemma, Sungjoon Cho

All Faculty Scholarship

Focusing on the tension between free trade and social regulation, this Article argues that the WTO, in alliance with other international institutions, must develop a synergistic, nonentropic linkage within the constitutional structure of the global trading system. In the analysis set forth within the article, considerable emphasis is placed on the concept of a “trade constitution.” This is because any practical prescriptions for achieving the desired synergy must necessarily flow from an accurate understanding of the capabilities and constraints of legal and political realities inherent to a broad multisphere trading system composed of Member states, the WTO, and other international …

Women Leading Systems, Margaret Grogan, C. Cryss Brunner Feb 2005

Women Leading Systems, Margaret Grogan, C. Cryss Brunner

Education Faculty Articles and Research

"Amid reports of superintendent shortages and concerns about equal opportunity, what place do women superintendents occupy in today’s school districts? Are they sought after or are they struggling to break into a traditionally male-dominated profession? What qualities, if any, do they bring to the office that may make them more desirable as education leaders? Do women even aspire to the superintendency? To gather the most up-to-date, comprehensive information on women and the superintendency, AASA recently commissioned a nationwide study of women in the superintendency and women in central-office positions. Using the AASA membership database and data from Market Data Retrieval, …

Reflection And Cognitive Strategy Instruction: Modeling Active Learning For Pre-Service Teachers, Barbara C. Palmer, C. Glennon Rowell, Mary Alice Brooks Feb 2005

Reflection And Cognitive Strategy Instruction: Modeling Active Learning For Pre-Service Teachers, Barbara C. Palmer, C. Glennon Rowell, Mary Alice Brooks

Reading Horizons: A Journal of Literacy and Language Arts

Reading methodology courses, like other courses in college, are often one-dimensional when it comes to instructional delivery systems. Too often, "teacher talk" that elicits far too little reflection prevails. This practice can be changed with activities calling for students to construct knowledge from their experiences, thus following basic tenets of constructivism. The purpose of this article is to discuss how pre-service teachers can be taught to think beyond strategies in methodology and reflect upon language itself Three instructional strategies - semantic feature analysis, fictitious writing systems activities, and nonsense story analysis - are examples of ways college professors can get …

Overweight And School: Are There Any Perceived Achievement Consequences Of Overweight Among American Youth?, Cody Ding, Jason Bornhop

Education Sciences and Professional Programs Faculty Works

In an effort to address the issue of overweight among youth, there is a growing body of research concerning the procurement food, the consequences of ingesting it and knowledge of the cultural cuisine rules (such as American cuisine may include hot dogs, hamburgers, fries and apple pie). However, there are few studies that examine the relationships between overweight and academic performance among adolescents. Based on the data collected by the World Health Organization in 1998, this study analyzed the relationships between overweight and student perceived academic performance for 15,686 children who were 10 to 15 years old. The results indicated …
