The Web Magazine
The Web Magazine focuses on alumni news and campus events from Gardner-Webb College; now Gardner-Webb University. In this issue, The Web captures word from the President, newsworthy stories, faculty and students, and athletics. Again, Frank R. Campbell shared his experiences thus far with his journey as President of GWU. Next, there us a 100 Years of Perseverance in which a ton of dates are listed with its specific important event. "Lights, Camera, Action!" is the top story under academics in which GWU Communications Studies Program gains national exposure. Summer internships are also included in this issue. In sports, all's well …

Impact Of Classics Of Western Spirituality On The Discipline Of Christian Spirituality, Sandra Marie Schneiders
Impact Of Classics Of Western Spirituality On The Discipline Of Christian Spirituality, Sandra Marie Schneiders
Jesuit School of Theology
First became aware of the need for something like the Classics of Western Spirituality (CWS) in the late 1960's and early 1970's when I was working on my licentiate thesis in Paris. My subject was the understanding of consecrated virginity in the first four centuries of Christianity. I was motivated to study this subject by two hunches, both confirmed by my subsequent research: first, that the spirituality of Catholic Religious Life, both monastic and ministerial, as it developed in the Christian tradition, was actually rooted historically and mystically in the commitment of the consecrated virgins in the first three centuries …

Women's and Gender Studies Program: Information and Materials
Since this is my last column as director of Women's Studies, I want to highlight some important evolutions in the program as I step down in August. At the beginning of this semester, after considerable discussion, the faculty voted to change our name to Women's Award from Judith Hart and Gender Studies Program. This change is consistent with other programs around the country. (The name change is in progress but is not yet official). As faculty and students have discussed this change over the past two years, we have recognized that this is not simply a cosmetic change. Instead it …

“To Be A Doctor” The Hopes And Aspirations Of The Children Attending Namu Elementary School, And The Obstacles That Block Their Paths To Obtaining Them., Lauren Burke
Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection
“Our village, Namu”. The children, some hesitant, others eager, all proud, bring forth pictures they have drawn of their hometown. In the children’s minds and through the crayons provided them, flowers sprout up next to streams, and birds fly in the sky. Almost every drawing includes a home with semicircle interloping plaster tiles for the roof. Fish swim in the rivers and a few suns contain smiley faces.
