Predictors Of Attitudes And Turnover Intentions In People With Disabilities: The Importance Of Means-Efficacy, Naomi Charity Schmierer

Theses Digitization Project

This study surveyed 107 working college students with varying disabilities. Individual, job, and organizational characteristics were evaluated for their ability to predict job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover cognitions. One area this characteristic that was explored was that of an individual's perception of organizational resources related to legally mandated reasonable accommodations. Using hierarchal regression this study found that self-efficacy, job characteristics, and means-efficacy were key predictors of job satisfaction. Means-efficacy was the only one of these that was a predictor of turnover intentions.

The Impact Of Hearing Loss On Deaf, Hard-Of-Hearing, And Hearing Family Members, Kara Brooks

Honors Capstones

No matter what area of communicative disorders a student chooses to pursue (speech-language pathology, audiology, rehabilitation counseling, etc.), he or she will undoubtedly be a provider of services to those who have impairments/disabilities and their families. Recommended practice supports the participation of a multitude of family members. This serves to benefit the individual with the impairment/disability. The study began with basic research. Information was gathered from books, professional websites, and other sources on the topic of interest. This served to provide a basic understanding of the deaf and hard of hearing populations and their families, and to learn data gathering …

The Addiction Severity Index As A Predictor Of Outcome For Inpatients With A Dual-Diagnosis., Larry Spencer Glenn Jan 2005

The Addiction Severity Index As A Predictor Of Outcome For Inpatients With A Dual-Diagnosis., Larry Spencer Glenn

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

The Addiction Severity Index is the most widely used intake instrument for substance abuse treatment. The National Comorbidity Study (Kessler et al. 1994) indicated that 13.7% of the United States population suffers from a concurrent substance use and mental health disorder within a lifetime. This study explored the utility of the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) and demographic factors as predictors of treatment as rated by staff at discharge. The records of 146 individuals with substance use and mental health diagnoses admitted to a freestanding residential treatment center in Northwestern Pennsylvania were examined to access the predictive properties of the ASI …

A Study Of The Effect Of An Integrated Continuum Of Intensive Crisis Intervention Services (Icicis), Including Assertive Community Treatment (Act), On Civil Commitments In North Central West Virginia., Robert D. Williams

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

The mental health service delivery system in West Virginia is ineffective at resolving psychiatric emergencies, as evidenced by a high civil commitment rate, leading to an annual {dollar}4 million non-budgeted expense to the state. West Virginia's two State hospitals are regularly at capacity, causing civil committed patients to be diverted to community psychiatric units, often at the state's expense. At one of the state's 13 Comprehensive Community Mental Health Centers (CCMHC), United Summit Center, two evidence based treatment modalities, ICICIS and ACT, are examined for their effectiveness at lowering the civil commitment rate per 100,000 and civil commitment hospitalization days. …
