No Child Left Behind And Its Communication Effectiveness In Diverse Communities, Benjamin L. Daniel
Theses and Dissertations
The study sought to define the communication techniques and channels 15 school superintendents from randomly selected socioeconomically diverse school districts use to communicate the major provisions of federally mandated No Child Left Behind legislation to parents and the most effective techniques to communicate NCLB to parents in those districts most likely affected by the legislation. The author employed a Delphi technique and personal interviews to gather primary data.
Findings indicate that superintendents considered print media and group settings the most effective means through which to communicate NCLB provisions to target audiences. Additionally, the researcher determined that parents remain uncertain about …

Add And Deafness: A Qualitative Study Of Professionals With Background In Add And Deafness, Cynthia Didonna

This qualitative research project was designed to gather information poorly understood topic: ADD and deafness. The information came from 5 detailed interviews with professionals who have experience with ADD deaf students. The interview protocol included parts: (a) questions about the problems and issues involved in identifying deaf students who have ADD, (b) possible protocols and instruments useful for diagnosing ADD in deaf students, and (c) possible accommodations and strategies for deaf students with ADD. The results indicated 4 primary themes: possible roles of interpreters, language issues, views of medication, and accommodation strategies. Future research should be directed towards standardizing ADD …

On February 23, 2004, a 50-year-old male cleaner died when he fell approximately 35 feet through a temporary roof opening and was impaled on a piece of equipment on the factory floor. He had been cleaning an exhaust fan on a factory roof with a pressure washer. He and two coworkers had removed the fan from its casing creating a temporary roof opening and set the fan beside the roof opening for cleaning. Facing the fan with his back to the opening, the cleaner apparently stepped backwards and fell through the opening. He fell onto a 1200-ton die-casting machine on …

The need for the project (What is the severity of the problem or magnitude of the need for the services (local/national): Students graduate from college with a variety of general and specific skills. However, most colleges would have a difficult time "describing" to potential employers the specific skills work related attitudes that their graduates possess.
