The Constitutional Rhetoric Of White Innocence, Cecil J. Hunt
The Constitutional Rhetoric Of White Innocence, Cecil J. Hunt
ExpressO
This article discusses the Supreme Court’s use of the rhetoric of white innocence in deciding racially inflected claims of constitutional shelter. It argues that the Court’s use of this rhetoric reveals that it has adopted a distinctly white-centered-perspective which reveals only a one-sided view of racial reality and thus distorts its ability to accurately appreciate the true nature of racial reality in contemporary America. This article examines the Court’s habit of consistently choosing a white-centered-perspective in constitutional race cases by looking at the Court’s use of the rhetoric of white innocence first in the context of the Court’s concern with …

Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering: Funded Proposals
Three specific aims are proposed: Specific Aim # 1. Process engineer and scale-up the recovery and purification of transgenic recombinant human Factor IX. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Biological Process Development Facility will complete process development and scale-up, and produce clinical grade materials for preclinical studies. The endpoint is a proposed final product specification to help facilitate transfer to current Good Manufacturing Practices compliant production of clinical grade material to support an Investigational New Drug filing with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) leading to clinical trials. Specific Aim #2. Characterize and formulate transgenic recombinant human Factor IX for …

Cochlear Implants: A Tips & Reference Guide For Teachers Working With Students Using Cis, Thomas Ohl
Cochlear Implants: A Tips & Reference Guide For Teachers Working With Students Using Cis, Thomas Ohl
Theses
Like a stampede, the cochlear implant (CI) has taken the worlds of deaf and hardof- hearing persons by storm. From its inception in the mid 1980's, some have embraced the technology as a miracle cure, while others have thought of it as cultural genocide. Yet, today, many would argue that the implant has come and is here to stay. There are many teachers with students using implants who feel inadequately prepared to deal with this technology. You might be one of them. If you are, this booklet is for you...keep reading! This book will provide you with skills and expertise …

The Localizing Value Of Focal Delta Slowing In Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, Abuhuzeifa Abubakr, Ilse Wambacq
The Localizing Value Of Focal Delta Slowing In Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, Abuhuzeifa Abubakr, Ilse Wambacq
Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works
Background: Clinical and structural correlates of lateralized interictal delta activity in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) have been well documented in the literature. Nevertheless, its occurrence has not been considered a significant clinical feature. Objective: To evaluate the significance of focal delta- range slowing for localizing the epileptogenic focus in patients with TLE, and predicting the outcome of temporal lobe surgery. Methods: Sixteen consecutive patients with temporal lobe epilepsy who underwent anterior temporal lobe resections were selected for the study. Findings of MRI, SPECT, neuropyschology assessment, pathology and surgical outcome were analyzed and correlated with focal delta slow activity …
Testimony On The Regulation Of Indian Gaming, Oversight Hearing On Indian Gaming, Before The United States Senate, Committee On Indian Affairs, 109th Congress, 1st Session, Kevin Washburn
Faculty Scholarship
Federal and tribal regulation is likely to be more successful than state regulation of Indian gaming because tribal governments and the federal government have a greater interest in the long term success of Indian gaming. Uniform federal minimum internal control standards can protect the integrity of the Indian gaming industry nationwide. While federal regulators should exercise a powerful role, they must be respectful of tribal governments.
