Internationalizing U.S. Legal Education: A Report On The Education Of Transnational Lawyers, Carole Silver

This article analyses the role of U.S. law schools in educating foreign lawyers and the increasingly competitive global market for graduate legal education. U.S. law schools have been at the forefront of this competition, but little has been reported about their graduate programs. This article presents original research on the programs and their students, drawn from interviews with directors of graduate programs at 35 U.S. law schools, information available on law school web sites about the programs, and interviews with graduates of U.S. graduate programs. Beyond Brasilia - Contemporary Urban Design In Brazil, Vicente Del Rio

This paper is a brief discussion of a recent research on how Brazilian cities have been shaped from the late 1980s to the early 2000s through several case studies in different cities. After the disruption of the modernist paradigm, the demythification of Brasilia, and the redemocratization of the country in the 1980s, architecture and urbanism in Brazil were eager for new models with which to face urban development. On one side globalization and market forces dragged society towards an “entrepreneurial” and fragmented city of shopping centers, gated communities, private enclaves, and trendy and irrelevant architectural imagery. Surveying The Stakeholder: Understanding Public Perception Of The New Hampshire Estuaries Project, New Hampshire Estuaries Project

The New Hampshire Estuaries Project (NHEP) commissioned The UNH Survey Center to conduct two surveys to assist in the implementation and evaluation of the 2004 NHEP Strategic Communication Plan. Both surveys were completed and the results are informing outreach activities. The attitudinal survey of the Planning Board members and Conservation Commissioners in coastal watershed communities suggested that there is moderate familiarity and awareness of the NHEP, with 57% of respondents expressing some level of familiarity with the NHEP. Respondents who live in Zone A seem to be much more likely to be familiar with the NHEP (13% are very familiar; …

Evaluation Of Stature Development During Childhood And Adolescence In Individuals With Familial Hypophosphatemic Rickets, Mauro M. S. Borghi, Verônica Coates, Hatim A. Omar

This review was conducted to study the diagnosis, treatment, and growth progression in infants and adolescents with familial hypophosphatemic rickets. The bibliographic search was carried out utilizing the electronic databases MEDLINE, OVID, and LILACS and by direct research within the last 15 years using the keywords rickets, familial hypophosphatemia, vitamin D deficiency, stature growth, childhood, and adolescence. Article selection was done by comparing the evaluation of the growth in patients with familial hypophosphatemic rickets, including the variables that might affect them, for possible future therapeutic proposals. Electronic physician order entry and medical records systems are being installed in health care settings throughout the country. Many physicians and other providers may not be aware of the science behind the potential benefits of using these new technologies. This talk will provide a basic defintion of the field of medical informatics and review the basic science behind electronic physician order entry and what are some realistic potentials for its future use.
