Identifying Common Ultrasonic Predictive Failure Signatures In Bearing Elements For The Development Of An Automated Condition Based Ultrasonic Monitoring Controller., Jason Eric Johnson
Identifying Common Ultrasonic Predictive Failure Signatures In Bearing Elements For The Development Of An Automated Condition Based Ultrasonic Monitoring Controller., Jason Eric Johnson
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This thesis presents a new method for Condition Based Ultrasonic Monitoring to be applied in conjunction with a lubrication distribution controller. As part of this thesis, algorithms were developed using ultrasonic sensors to control the application of lubrication to machinery. The controller sensors detect an ultrasonic signal from rolling or sliding machine elements. This signal then alerts the controller to dispense the proper amount of lubrication when needed, as opposed to a time schedule based on average performance or history. The work from this thesis will be used to help reduce equipment downtime and maintenance cost when utilized in an …

Governors State University’S College Of Health Professions Earns Aupha Certification, Office Of Public Affairs
Press Releases
Governors State University announced today that its Bachelor of Health Administration degree program within the College of Health Professions has received recertification by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA).
The AUPHA certification is valid until 2010, and makes the program one of only sixty such degree programs accredited nationwide by the organization. Selenocysteine (Sec) is inserted into selenoproteins co-translationally with the help of various cis- and trans-acting factors. The specific mechanisms of Sec biosynthesis and insertion into protein in eukaryotic cells, however, are not known. Two proteins, SECp43 and the soluble liver antigen (SLA), were previously reported to interact with tRNA [Ser]Sec, but their functions remained elusive. Herein, we report that knockdown of SECp43 in NIH3T3 or TCMK-1 cells using RNA interference technology resulted in a reduction in the level of methylation at the 2’-hydroxylribosyl moiety in the wobble position (Um34) of Sec tRNA [Ser]Sec, and consequently reduced glutathione peroxidase …

An Examination Of The Psychometric Properties Of The Spiritual Well-Being Scale In A Sample Of African American Women, Mary Catherine Dugan
An Examination Of The Psychometric Properties Of The Spiritual Well-Being Scale In A Sample Of African American Women, Mary Catherine Dugan
Dissertations
This dissertation is an investigation of the psychometric properties of the Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS) (Paloutzian & Ellison) using a sample of African American women recruited from the community. The purpose was to determine the appropriateness of using the SWBS with a sample not included in the earlier norming studies (Ledbetter et al., 1991). The sample consisted of 168 African American women who were parents or guardians of youth attending middle school in a Midwestern urban area. The women completed a survey including demographic information, parent scales, and the SWBS. Construct validity of the SWBS was examined by conducting a …

The policies governing their activities have universal impact. The purpose of this study is to unfold flaws and failures of the multilateral institutions' activities toward financing Russia during a transitional period, leading to dangerous worldwide corruption, money laundering, fraud, and misuse of international funds by the Russian Government. American And French Perspectives On Trademark Keying: The Courts Leave Businesses Searching For Answers, Terrance J. Keenan
American And French Perspectives On Trademark Keying: The Courts Leave Businesses Searching For Answers, Terrance J. Keenan
Washington Journal of Law, Technology & Arts
Trademark owners in America and Europe are attacking the lucrative practice of selling search results and advertising linked to searches based on product names and trademarks, which is known as trademark keying. From makers of luxury products to travel companies, and insurance companies to home décor vendors, companies have sued Internet search providers to stop this practice that they believe amounts to trademark infringement. Recent cases against search engine companies in American and French courts reflect divergent views on the legality of the practice at this early stage of the debate. This Article evaluates recent rulings in both jurisdictions which …

Help Wanted: The Constitutional Case Against Gerrymandering To Protect Congressional Incumbents, Walter M. Frank
Help Wanted: The Constitutional Case Against Gerrymandering To Protect Congressional Incumbents, Walter M. Frank
ExpressO
This article argues that the Supreme Court has been incorrect in treating incumbent protection gerrymanders as a traditional and acceptable redistricting principle. Part I of the article sets out 3 separate lines of attack on excessive incumbent protection gerrymanders. Part II makes the case for judicial regulation of such gerrymanders and proposes a standard that would create a presumption of unconstitutionality that could be rebutted. A process oriented remedy is proposed and potential obstacles to a suit are also addressed.

Health-Exposure Modelling And The Ecological Fallacy, Jon Wakefield, Gavin Shaddick
Health-Exposure Modelling And The Ecological Fallacy, Jon Wakefield, Gavin Shaddick
UW Biostatistics Working Paper Series
Recently there has been increased interest in modelling the association between aggregate disease counts and environmental exposures measured, for example via air pollution monitors, at point locations. This paper has two aims: first we develop a model for such data in order to avoid ecological bias; second we illustrate that modelling the exposure surface and estimating exposures may lead to bias in estimation of health effects. Design issues are also briefly considered, in particular the loss of information in moving from individual to ecological data, and the at-risk populations to consider in relation to the pollution monitor locations. The approach …
