Empathic Adolescents: Associations With Religiosity And Spirituality., Bethanie Renee Morris

This study evaluated religiosity, spirituality, and empathy to provide further clarification on their relations. As shown in the research, religiosity, spirituality, and empathy are generally related to favorable effects in adolescents when examined alone. Therefore, it is important to recognize how these constructs interact together. Four hundred twenty-eight adolescents completed self-report questionnaires that assessed levels of religiosity, spirituality, and empathy. Participants’ religiosity and spirituality were assessed using a scale devised by the researchers and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI; Davis, 1980, 1995) was used to measure empathy. Objectives: To 1) determine if enamel bleaching affects the in vivo survival rate and in vitro bond strength of orthodontic bracket adhesive; 2) determine the mode of bracket failure in vivo and in vitro 3) determine if an in vitro anti-oxidant such as sodium ascorbate can reverse the compromised bonding. Methods: I. The in vitro study utilized one hundred and five (105) extracted human premolars from a jar. Context: The concept of mentoring is not generally discussed within athletic training literature, although the importance is recognized by educators. Most definitions of mentoring are very ambiguous and lack specific conclusions. In addition it is not known if mentoring occurs and when and how it occurs within the clinical education setting in athletic training. ABSTRACT JOB SATISFACTION, BURNOUT, AND PERCEIVED EFFECTIVENESS AMONG BUILDING-BASED AND DISTRICT-BASED SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGISTS by Dawn Marie Farnsworth November 2005 In the present study, the relationship between the number of school buildings that a school psychologist works in and the resulting levels of job satisfaction, burnout, and perceived effectiveness was studied. A questionnaire was mailed to 252 school psychologists that contained 28 items on a Likert scale related to the areas of job satisfaction, burnout and perceived effectiveness. Spontaneous alternating behavior (SAB) describes the tendency of an organism to spontaneously select the unfamiliar direction in a two choice situation. Paramecium is the only microscopic genus in which SAB has been studied. The two earlier studies regarding SAB in Paramecium have come to conclusive, but diametrically opposed results. Designing a single new experiment that incorporates the critical differences in the designs of both studies may help to clarify the results from these earlier studies, and provide an excellent opportunity to better understand the factors that influence SAB.

Jurisdictional mismatch plagues contemporary environmental law and policy. The division of authority and responsibility for environmental protection between the federal and state governments lacks any cohesive rationale or justification. The federal government regulates in many areas where there is no clear analytical basis for federal involvement. At the same time, the federal government is relatively absent where a stronger federal presence could be justified. Conversely, states are precluded, discouraged or otherwise inhibited from adopting environmental protections where state efforts would be worthwhile. At the same time, state intervention seeps into areas where a dominant federal role would be more defensible. …
