Lack Of Evidence For Cytoplasmic Effects For Four Traits Of Polypay Sheep, L. Dale Van Vleck, Kathryn J. Hanford, G. D. Snowder
Lack Of Evidence For Cytoplasmic Effects For Four Traits Of Polypay Sheep, L. Dale Van Vleck, Kathryn J. Hanford, G. D. Snowder
Department of Animal Science: Faculty Publications
Analyses of birth and weaning weights, fleece weights of ewes, and number born per litter of Polypay sheep collected at the U.S. Sheep Experimental Station from 1978 through 1998, confirmed previous analyses of three other dual-purpose breeds that cytoplasmic effects do not contribute to variation in these four traits. In general, estimates of genetic parameters that would be needed for national genetic evaluation were similar to previous estimates for Columbia, Rambouillet, and Targhee sheep, although estimates of direct heritability for Polypay were somewhat less for birth weight, slightly greater for weaning weight, significantly greater for fleece weight, and the same …

A Spirit Filled People-The Importance Of The Role And Work Of The Holy Spirit In The Converted Christian As Found In The Lutheran Confessions, The Book Of Concord, Sarah Arthur
Master of Art Theology Thesis
In this paper, we will take a closer look at just what it is that the Augsburg Confession and the Apology have to say about the importance of the role and work of Holy Spirit in the life of the converted Christian. We will first identify each occurrence and then organize the information in order to better understand what these two documents have to say about the work and role of the Holy Spirit.
Some topics were dealt with first for good reason. Luther's followers had first to defend their practices and doctrines before the Roman Catholic Church. There was …

A patent holder can choose to license a patented invention to others, can choose to use the patented invention exclusively itself, or can choose to prevent any use of the patented invention by itself or by others. In the gene patent area, the exclusive rights of the patent holder can raise the costs of genetic services, diminish the quality of genetic tests and treatments, and interfere with access to health care.

Bulletins 4000 -
Authors: Martin Barbetti, Pam Burgess, Dave Eksteen, Trevor Lacey, Reg Lance, Peter Metcalfe, Dane Robertson, Greg Shea, Sofia Sipsas, Mark Sweetingham, Graham Walton, Peter White, Anne Wilkins
Markets are rapidly changing and new industries are emerging at a faster rate than previously recorded in history. The livestock industry and related feed grain industry are part of this changing dimension. The Department of Agriculture Western Australia (DAWA) compiled this report to examine the supply and potential demand for feed grain and explore possible options to take advantage of opportunities that may be presented as a result of these changes.

2004 Oregon Vineyard And Winery Report, Oregon Agricultural Statistics Service, Janice A. Goodwin, Laura Burgess
Oregon Wine Board Documents
This statewide survey report on vineyards and wineries in Oregon covers bearing and nonbearing acres, size of vineyard operation, variety and county, size distribution, prices, and yields. The report also contains some comparisons of data for 2003 and 2004. According to this report, Oregon wine grape production was down for a variety of reasons: poor fruit set for some growers, freezing temperatures, powdery mildew, birds, yellow-jackets, and deer.
Are Household Production Decisions Cooperative? Evidence On Pastoral Migration And Milk Sales From Northern Kenya, Cheryl R. Doss, John G. Mcpeak
Are Household Production Decisions Cooperative? Evidence On Pastoral Migration And Milk Sales From Northern Kenya, Cheryl R. Doss, John G. Mcpeak
Economics - All Scholarship
Market-based development efforts frequently create opportunities to generate income from goods previously produced and consumed within the household. Production within the household is often characterized by a gender and age division of labor. Market development efforts to improve well being may lead to unanticipated outcomes if household production decisions are non-cooperative. We develop and test models of household decision-making to investigate intra-household decision making in a nomadic pastoral setting from Kenya. Our results suggest that household decisions are contested, with husbands using migration decisions to resist wives' ability to market milk.

Effect Of Ovulatory Follicle Size And Standing Estrus On Circulating Hormone Concentrations And Interval To Ovulation, George A. Perry
Effect Of Ovulatory Follicle Size And Standing Estrus On Circulating Hormone Concentrations And Interval To Ovulation, George A. Perry
South Dakota Beef Report, 2005
In postpartum cows, ovulatory follicle size at time of insemination (GnRH/TAI) influenced pregnancy rates following TAI, but had no effect on pregnancy rates when cows spontaneously ovulated. Furthermore, cows that exhibited estrus (± 24 h of GnRH/TAI) had higher pregnancy rates compared to cows not in estrus. The objective was to assess the relationship between ovulatory follicle size and estradiol concentrations, timing of the LH surge, timing of ovulation, and subsequent progesterone concentrations. Cows were synchronized with the CO-Synch (n = 64; induced ovulation) or the Select Synch (n = 20; spontaneous ovulation) protocol. Cows that exhibited estrus and were …
