Proposed Experimental Actions For Water Years 2005-2006 Colorado River, Arizona, In Glen Canyon National Recreation Area And Grand Canyon National Park, U.S. Department Of The Interior, Bureau Of Reclamation, National Park Service, U.S. Geological Survey
All U.S. Government Documents (Utah Regional Depository)
In September 2002 the Bureau of Reclamation, National Park Service (NPS), and U.S. Geological Survey released an environmental assessment (EA) on proposed experimental releases from Glen Canyon Dam and removal of non‐native fish from the Colorado River in Grand Canyon, Arizona (Bureau of Reclamation, NPS, and USGS 2002). The experiment was developed by the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (GCMRC), cooperating scientists, and the Technical Work Group (TWG) of the Glen Canyon Dam Adaptive Management Program (GCDAMP). It was recommended to the Secretary of the Interior by the Adaptive Management Work Group (AMWG), a …

Laborer Dies When Caught In Arms Of A Skidsteer Loader, Kentucky Injury Prevention And Research Center
Fatality Case Reports--Other
On September 19, 2003, a 23-year-old male laborer (decedent) died when he became caught in the activated arms of a skidsteer loader. A work crew consisting of a contractor and 3 laborers had spent the day installing fence on a dairy farm. Earlier in the day, the contractor had borrowed a skidsteer from the farm owner. The work crew used the skidsteer to set fence posts in the ground. At the end of the work day (approximately 4:00 PM), the contractor instructed the decedent to return the skidsteer to the barn area. From the work site, the decedent drove the …

Social Engineering In The Age Of Ai, Mohammad A. Saleh
Social Engineering In The Age Of Ai, Mohammad A. Saleh
Cybersecurity Undergraduate Research Showcase
The next great invention is artificial intelligence. AI has grown rapidly over the last 15 years and has brought both advantages and disadvantages to everyday society. One of the most concerning disadvantages highlighted in recent years is the rise of social engineering attacks. Social engineering comes in many different forms, making it difficult to identify at times. With the development of AI, these attacks have become even harder to detect, prevent, and stop. This research essay explores the different types of AI-driven social engineering attacks, how they occur, why they happen, and the impact they have on individuals and organizations.

A Large-Sample Qtl Study In Mice: Iii. Reproduction, Joao L. Rocha, Eugene J. Eisen, Frank Siewerdt, L. Dale Van Vleck, Daniel Pomp
Department of Animal Science: Faculty Publications
Using lines of mice having undergone long-term selection for high and low growth, a large-sample (n ≈ 1000 F2) experiment was conducted to gain further understanding of the genetic architecture of complex polygenic traits. Composite interval mapping on data from 10-week-old F2 females (n = 439) detected 15 quantitative trait loci (QTLs) on 5 chromosomes that influence reproduction traits characterized at day 16 of gestation. These QTL are broadly categorized into two groups: those where effects on the number of live fetuses (LF) were accompanied by parallel effects on the number of dead fetuses (DF), and those free …

Chinese Crisis Management, Andy Gudgel Mr.
Articles & Editorials
Over 50 experts on China and the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) gathered at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, from October 1-3, to attend the 2004 Chinese Crisis Management Conference. Cosponsored by the Heritage Foundation, American Enterprise Institute, and the U.S. Army War College, the conference participants discussed a framework for analyzing Chinese decisionmaking during crises, and examined historical examples of domestic, regional, and international crises and how the Chinese government dealt with them.

Stat 5 Activators Can Replace The Requirement Of Fbs In The Adipogenesis Of 3t3-L1 Cells, William C. Stewart, James E. Baugh, Z. Elizabeth Floyd, Jacqueline M. Stephens
Faculty Publications
The 3T3-L1 cells differentiate into fat cells that have many properties of native adipocytes including: substantial lipid accumulation, insulin sensitivity, and the ability to secrete endocrine hormones. A substantial expense in using these cells is fetal bovine serum (FBS), a critical component of efficient adipogenesis. Our recent studies on STAT 5 proteins have revealed that these transcription factors are phosphorylated and translocate to the nucleus immediately after the initiation of differentiation. Studies by several other laboratories also suggest that STAT 5 proteins can have pro-adipogenic properties. Growth hormone (GH) and prolactin (PRL) are both potent activators of STAT 5A and …

A Geometrical Approach To N=2 Super Yang-Mills Theory On The Two Dimensional Lattice, Simon Catterall
A Geometrical Approach To N=2 Super Yang-Mills Theory On The Two Dimensional Lattice, Simon Catterall
Physics - All Scholarship
We propose a discretization of two dimensional Euclidean Yang-Mills theories with N=2 supersymmetry which preserves exactly both gauge invariance and an element of supersymmetry. The approach starts from the twisted form of the continuum super Yang Mills action which we show may be written in terms of two real Kahler-Dirac fields whose components transform into each other under the twisted supersymmetry. Once the theory is written in this geometrical language it is straightforward to discretize by mapping the component tensor fields to appropriate geometrical structures in the lattice and by replacing the continuum exterior derivative and its adjoint by appropriate …

Thank you all for joining together at this great university for a ceremony that combines medieval academic costumes with the sights and sounds of the 21st century.
Today’s event is rooted in a distant past while reaching expectantly for the future. This seems only right, for in universities we examine and learn from the past even as we try to inspire those, inside and outside our walls, who will make and change the future. Today we mark that continuity and the possibilities ahead.
