Stabilization Of Desert Sand Using Water-Borne Polymers, Shihab Wagiealla Abdalla Mohamed

Theses

Soil stabilization is one of the various applications that have benefited from the advances in polymeric materials. In this research, three water-borne polymeric emulsions with different chemical and physical properties were tested as stabilizers for sandy soil.

This study is divided into three parts. In the first part, the performance of the three emulsions in reducing the hydraulic conductivity and improving the mechanical properties of the sand was investigated. Specimens with polymer contents of up to 2 wt. % were prepared using two preparation methods, mixing and spraying. based on the more electric ship (MES) concept, conventional mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic power transfer systems are replaced by electrical systems in different sea vehicles. Considering different levels of power requirements of various electrical loads and for the achievement of compact, light, safe, and efficient power supplies, implementation of multi-converter power electronics-based power systems is the most feasible option in the development of advanced navy vehicles. This paper presents a real time state estimation algorithm for control and security maintenance of multi-converter MES power electronic systems. Estimation of the state variables of the system includes the effects of ripples and converter switching actions. the proposed state estimator is based on the Weighted Least Squares (WLS) approach. We consider multiple ionization of Ne by fast H²⁺, with and without projectile electron loss. Measurements of the total cross section for the direct ionization channel support the similarity of ionization of Ne by an H²⁺ projectile that does not break and Ne ionization by an equi-velocity proton. the multiple target ionization with projectile electron loss is analyzed within a proposed model, adapted from the independent particle model, taking into account post-collisional decay channels following the ionization of Ne 2s electrons. We live in a visual culture. To say that is to say, in the most obvious sense, that we live in a culture that is saturated by images. They are everywhere. We see them in the expected places: on our television and computer screens, in newspapers and magazines, on billboards, in our scrapbooks and photo albums, in picture frames and coffee table books. Right from his first novel, Les Soleils des Indépendances (1970), Kourouma introduced the theme of the reversed world, a baroque metaphor for the state of Africa after Independence. In Monnè (1990), telling the history of this reversal, he insisted on its linguistic roots. Consequently, En attendant le vote des bêtes sauvages (1998) shows how this reversal in the context of Cold War, favoured the genesis and development of dictatorial powers leading to an actual apocalypse. This paper analyses the way politics, society and the representation of speech is structured in Le goût des jeunes filles, Dany Laferrière’s fourth novel. How do the events told and the disorganised narration itself symbolise the unspeakable? Moreover, how does the characters’ speech rebuild the meaning of existence, and how does Laferrière see the future? Chaos, madness, all that overtakes or destroys the norm, anchors fiction in an attempt to reorganize reality and the imaginary.
