Improved Local Search Algorithms With Multi-Cycle Reduction For Minimum Concave Cost Network Flow Problems, Ruibiao Qiu, Jon Turner

All Computer Science and Engineering Research

The minimum concave cost network flow problem (MCCNFP) has many applications in areas such as telecommunication network design, facility location, production and inventory planning, and traffic scheduling and control. However, it is a well known NP-hard problem, and all existing search based exact algorithms are not practical for networks with even moderate numbers of vertices. Therefore, the research community also focuses on approximation algorithms to tackle the problems in practice. In this paper, we present an improved local search algorithm for the minimum concave cost network flow problem based on multi-cycle reduction. OXFORD, Miss. - Dallas resident Nancy Ashley says she owes much to the Oxford Conference for the Book. She credits the event - put on annually since 1993 by the University of Mississippi's Center for the Study of Southern Culture and Oxford's Square Books - with sparking her four-year career delivering presentations on Mississippi writers to Dallas-Fort Worth book clubs.

In June 1998, the Board of Education of the School District of Philadelphia passed a resolution mandating that all students demonstrate citizenship competencies by completing a service-learning project for promotion to grades 5 and 9 and for high school graduation. This resolution, part of Children Achieving–– Philadelphia’s education reform plan––launched an initiative supporting service-learning practice on an unprecedented scale for one school district.

Four years later, the District had formed partnerships with over 250 community agencies, trained 2,400 teachers in the philosophy and methodology of service-learning, and leveraged approximately $20 million per year in financial and in-kind resources to support …

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Characterization of micron and sub-micron size particles requires the simultaneous measurement of the joint particle property distribution (JPPD). The JPPD is comprised of particle size, shape, orientation, composition, optical properties, and surface properties. Measurement of each of the particle properties independently is a difficult task and it has been only partially successful. To determine as many particle properties as possible using optical methods it is necessary to simultaneously measure all aspects of the interaction of the incident light with the particles of interest.
