Ever since Mancur Olson's The Logic Of Collective Action was published in 1965, if not before, the traditional conception of politics in Western democracies has given pride of place to special interests -- small groups with high stakes -- seeking favors from legislators. These groups are able to solve the coordination and free-rider problems that plague larger group interests, and get their way in Congress and other legislative bodies by doling out campaign contributions and other benefits. This study examines the operational history of the First Cavalry Divisions conquest of the Admiralty Islands during World War Two as the final phase of Operation Cartwheel. Cartwheel called a two pronged attack; one prong in New Guinea, by-passing large Japanese garrisons and the other in the northern Solomon Islands with the goal the isolation of the strong point at Rabaul.

The material is drawn primarily from U.S. Army records held by the National Archives at College Park, Maryland, records from the Air Force Historical Research Agency at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama and other reports.

We identify three trends in the recent sociology of sexuality. First, we examine how queer theory has influenced many sociologists whose empirical work observes sexuality in areas generally thought to be asexual. These sociologists also elaborate queer theory's challenge to sexual dichotomizing and trace the workings of power through sexual categories. Second, we look at how sociologists bring sexuality into conversation with the black feminist notion of “intersectionality” by examining the nature and effects of sexuality among multiple and intersecting systems of identity and oppression. The Virtual Mission Operations Center (VMOC) is a joint DoD and U.S. intergovernmental initiative to exploit Internet Protocol (IP) based systems in space or nearspace, allowing any computer linked to the Internet to conduct dynamic tasking of payloads, interact with databases, and Tracking, Telemetry, and Control (TT&C) operations. The use of IP systems enables disadvantaged field users to access and task space capabilities. At the same time, it encourages common interfaces that lead to reconfigurable and standardized vehicle design for operationally responsive space missions. The theme of the 18th Annual AIAA/USU Conference on Small Satellites questions whether small satellites are a complimentary or a disruptive technology. This paper addresses this question by performing an analysis of the role small satellites play in the space market. The market is segmented into three primary components, military space, civil space, and commercial space. Analysis focuses on the U.S. space market. The analysis shows that while small satellites perform some valuable missions, they represent only a small part of the overall space market. In the late 1700s, condoms were luxury items for the affluent in Western Europe, but by the 1970s, the US government gave free condoms out to poor women in Third World areas. Moreover condom availability has increased dramatically since the global emergence of the AIDS pandemic in the 1980s, adding to the already fervent social stigmatization and political contentions on morality, sexuality, and wellbeing that condom use brings. This paper focuses on the strategically joint-relationship between manufacturing firms and governments to foster distinct profit-oriented condom social relations and moral-symbolic regimes of sexual cultures. This study examines state arbitration policy in Georgia from its establishment as a colony until the present time. It describes early informal and nonjudicialized procedures such as the Muhlenberg arbitration in Ebenezer in 1774; initiatives of the Georgia Legislature for the arbitral resolution of disputes; the application of arbitral devices in Georgia’s tax and municipal corporation law; arbitration in Georgia’s chambers of commerce and boards of trade, and forms of public law arbitration still existing in Georgia. The efficacy of currently available decontamination strategies for the treatment of indoor furnishings contaminated with bioterrorism agents is poorly understood. Efficacy testing of decontamination products in a controlled environment is needed to ensure that effective methods are used to decontaminate domestic and workplace settings. An experimental room supplied with materials used in office furnishings (i.e., wood laminate, painted metal, and vinyl tile) was used with controlled dry aerosol releases of endospores of Bacillus atrophaeus (“Bacillus subtilis subsp. niger,” also referred to as BG), a Bacillus anthracis surrogate. In Women's Time Kristeva designates three broad currents of feminist struggle: first, the suffragist movement declaring a universalist view of women's experience regardless of class, age, and cultures; second, the phase of difference, that she regards as "returning to an archaic (mythic) memory as well as cyclical or monumental temporality of marginal movements" (355); and third, a trend that she wholeheartedly supports for their concept that "the dichotomy of man and woman as an opposition of two rival entities is a problem of metaphysics" (366).
