Conduct Disorder: Is It Treatable?, Renata Smith
Conduct Disorder: Is It Treatable?, Renata Smith
Master of Education Program Theses
Behavior problems are a growing problem in classrooms around the United States. One of the most common types of behavior disorders is Conduct Disorder. Is this a treatable disorder? Many treatment options are available. Only three will be discussed in this paper: Service Learning, Behavior Modification and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Service Learning, Behavior Modification, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy have been shown to be effective in treating conduct disorders in residential settings but there are no follow-up studies to determine whether these treatments had long-term effects on the behavior once the students left the facility.

Who Are You Class of...Orientation Speeches
“I’ve been particularly struck this year to more often see words such as integrity, commitment, honesty, public interest, ethics, loyalty permeate your narrative statements. So many of you are survivors and have dealt with life’s difficult sides - tragic deaths of loved ones, divorce, terrible car accidents, debilitating illnesses, dissolution of families, murder, and the loss of a dear brother in the World Trade Center on the fateful 9/11. Yet you endure and strive to be better. One of you wrote, “We have a choice to use the gift of our lives to make the world a better place” and …

Linear Life Expectancy Regression With Censored Data, Ying Qing Chen, Su-Chun Cheng
Linear Life Expectancy Regression With Censored Data, Ying Qing Chen, Su-Chun Cheng
U.C. Berkeley Division of Biostatistics Working Paper Series
Life expectancy, i.e., mean residual life function, has been of important practical and scientific interests to characterise the distribution of residual life. Regression models are often needed to model the association between life expectancy and its covariates. In this article, we consider a linear mean residual life model and further developed some inference procedures in presence of censoring. The new model and proposed inference procedure will be demonstrated by numerical examples and application to the well-known Stanford heart transplant data. Additional semiparametric efficiency calculation and information bound are also considered.

Quality Of Life In The Chronically Mentally Ill: Impact Of Demographics, Symptomatology, And Coping Styles, Dawn Castner
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder are often persistent and disabling conditions that require a wide range ofbiopsychosocial treatments. In recent decades, treatment has largely focused on assisting persons to maintain community tenure, while little attention has been devoted to quality of life. For many, these illnesses have a negative impact on life satisfaction due to their chronic and variable nature, lack of completely efficacious treatments, and social stigma. Some have speculated that various demographic, symptom, or treatment variables influence quality of life, but the nature and amount of influence is uncertain. 111 The purpose of this study was to investigate the …

The Impact Of Health Information And Demographic Changes On Aggregate Meat Demand, Christiane Schroeter, Ken Foster
The Impact Of Health Information And Demographic Changes On Aggregate Meat Demand, Christiane Schroeter, Ken Foster
Agribusiness
Over the past few decades, U.S. meat consumption patterns have changed. Figure 1 shows the U.S. per-capita meat consumption from 1970-1999. Consumers have increased their total meat consumption by 9.3% from 1970 to 1999, however, the composition of the meat consumption changed as well. While beef consumption has consistently decreased since 1985 - that of poultry and fish have increased. Per capita pork consumption has not changed on average from the 1970’s to the 1990’s.
