Canal Velocity Indexing At Colorado River Indian Tribes (Crit) Irrigation Project In Parker, Arizona Using The Sontek Argonaut Sl, Stuart W. Styles, Mark Niblack, Beau J. Freeman

An index velocity rating was developed for a SonTek/YSI Argonaut Side-Looking (SL) ultrasonic Doppler flow meter installed in the Main Canal of the Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) Irrigation Project in Parker, Arizona. Velocity data collected concurrently with the ultrasonic flow meter and conventional current meter were compared using linear regression techniques. The rating equation for this installation provides a reasonably accurate means of computing discharge. This project was completed by the Irrigation Training and Research Center (ITRC), California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, working under a technical assistance contract for the Water Conservation Office, United States Bureau of …

The State of Virginia has adopted state-mandated testing that aims to raise the standards of performance for children in our schools in a manner that assigns accountability to schools and to teachers. In this paper we argue that the conditions under which the standards were created and the testing implemented undermine the professionalism of teachers. ...

Absent elements in the evaluation processes of science and technology activities in Buenos Aires University are discussed. The main deficiencies identified are shown to be linked to the organization of the technological scientific system and to inherent conceptions of the scientists. Remedies are analyzed.

Provides campaign funds to state office candidates who submit to funding limitations and conditions. Specifies funding amounts for each office. Limits political party support for candidates to 10% of specified funding amount. Financing primarily funded by 6-year tax on oil produced within California; sum of annual tax revenues to equal $5 per resident. Acute And Chronic Toxicity Of Compound Drc-1339 (3-Chloro-4-Methylaniline Hydrochloride) To Birds, John D. Eisemann, Patricia A. Pipas, John L. Cummings

DRC-1339( 3-chloro-4-methylaniline hydrochloride) is the only toxicant currently registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) for lethal bird control. DRC-1339 was first registered in 1967 for starling control at feedlots It may currently be used to manage blackbirds, rock doves, crows, ravens, magpies, gulls and starlings for purposes of protecting human health and safety, agricultural crops and threatened or endangered species. A large body of toxicity information is available because of the nature of DRC-1339 uses and its 35-year history of use. Laboratory testing has resulted in estimates of median lethal dose (LD50) for 55 species of …
