Innovative Contracting Prequalification/Selection Model Using Analytical Hierarchy Process (Ahp), Saad J. Zidan

Design-Build, Cost-Plus-Time, and warranty are the three innovative contracting methods that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) decided to fund. FHWA allowed the usage of these methods in federally funded projects if this will result in reducing time, improving quality, and saving tax payers' money. Prequalification is recognized as the best way of assuring that contractors do have the required qualifications to deliver projects successfully. Prequalification is even more critical when low-bid selection method is used with any of the innovative contracting, since incompetent contractors may get awarded for low-bids that are not based on valid assumptions.

This study examined the effects of individual and group monetary incentives on the performance of high and low performers. Participants were six college students who performed a computerized work task called SYNWIN. Participants earned points for correct responses and lost points for incorrect responses. The primary dependent variables were the total number of points earned per session and the percent correct per session. An ABAC within-subject reversal design was used, where A= individual incentives, B = group incentives (either high or low performance), and C = hourly pay.

Dynein’S Binding Ability To Microtubules In Budding Yeast Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, Gregory Lyle Waltz

Cytoplasmic dynein is a minus-end directed microtubule motor that recently has been described as a member of the AAA⁺ ATPase family. Dyn1p contains four ATP-binding consensus sequences. To understand the role of each ATP-binding site we have begun to systematically mutate the consensus sequence at each ATP-binding site. Thirty-two mutant alleles have been constructed and integrated into the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. We have examined each mutant for ability to grow in rich media, to produce binucleate cells at 12°C, ability to grow in the absence of CIN8, and ability of Dyn1p to bind microtubules. IAA Reports—Monograph Series of the Israel Antiquities Authority

Excavations at the Neolithic site of Abu Ghosh in the Jerusalem Hills uncovered two periods: the Pre-Pottery Neolithic B (PPNB) and the Pottery Neolithic (PN). This volume documents the results of the excavations of villages of these two consecutive periods, including architecture, lithics, groundstone, pottery, small finds and fauna. The PPNB village comprised domestic structures, courtyards, plaster floors and enclosing fences. Domestic activities took place in the courtyards. The PN village layout is less clear, as it was dug into the earlier remains. The faunal analysis reveals evidence of incipient domestication of wild goats in the PPNB assemblage, and by …

This paper concerns a minimax control design problem for a class of parabolic systems with nonregular boundary conditions and uncertain distributed perturbations under pointwise control and state constraints. We deal with boundary controllers acting through Dirichlet boundary conditions that are the most challenging for the parabolic dynamics.

A simple one-dimensional photonic bandgap structure, which is also known as a Fabry-Perot Microcavity (FPM) structure was studied theoretically and experimentally. In particular this project addressed introducing an optically birefringent material in the cavity. This FPM consists of two grown regular Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) mirrors that can be put together as a sandwich with a space between them, which will lead to the creation of the desired cavity. Each mirror, or one-dimensional dielectric stack structure, was grown using the Vacuum Evaporation Technique and consists of multiple layers of alternating high-and low-refractive index dielectric materials arranged periodically. We are exploring the connection between Damped Ly-α Absorption systems and Lyman Break Galaxies using deep m (5σ)=26 m - broad band imaging (UBVI) of four wide fields (0.25deg each) obtained at the Kitt Peak 4-m telescope with MOSAIC. Each field contains a DLA at z ∼ 3. We want to address the nature of DLA at high-redshifts: (1) Are the DLAs embedded in much larger systems of galaxies? (2) How does the spatial distribution of emitters in 3D (space and redshift) correlate with the absorber? Contrary to most previous DLA studies, we are not looking for the absorber, and …

Interpersonal Skills for Leadership has been taught at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for more than 30 years and has been a key course students use to satisfy the communication/interpersonal skills requirement in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. While interpersonal skills topics are covered and practiced in the course, additional practice occurs through service learning with a client in a community agency. This requirement equates to approximately 6,500 service hours provided annually in the Lincoln community. This level of service requires a well-developed placement and evaluation process. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) requires state transportation agencies to submit a biennial report on local highway finances. The purpose of these reports is to provide FHWA with the data it needs to capture the financing of highway activities at the local level. Based on this information, it can identify trends in revenue, expenditures, investments, and program development, and in turn make decisions about future investments.
