“All Hayll, All Hayll, Both Blithe And Glad” : Direct Address In Early English Drama, 1400-1585, Michelle M. Butler '90

Doctoral Dissertations

"Now will I praise those godly men,

our ancestors, each in his own time...

All these were glorious in their time,

each illustrious in his day.

Some of them have left behind a name

and men recount their praiseworthy deeds " (Sirach 44: I. 7-8)

Annual Report 2002-2003, Imsa Fund Jan 2003

Annual Report 2002-2003, Imsa Fund

IMSA Fund Reports

Reeling from an unprecedented eleventh-hour $2.5 million reduction to its state-appropriated operating budget for fiscal year 03, IMSA began the 2002-03 year by making the difficult decisions required. The Board of Trustees cut staff positions, cut the salaries of all remaining employees, increased student fees by 43%, accessed temporary or one-time revenue sources, and reduced programs and services for IMSA students, Illinois educators and other Illinois students.

In the aftermath of the reduction, the IMSA community rallied, choosing once again to stand up and be trailblazers, acting to preserve the academic integrity and distinctiveness of its remaining internal and statewide …

Creating Motivation And Oral Reading Fluency Through Readers' Theatre, Kelly Leaverton Jan 2003

Creating Motivation And Oral Reading Fluency Through Readers' Theatre, Kelly Leaverton

All Graduate Projects

Readers' Theatre is a wonderful teaching tool in which students practice and rehearse scripts in order to put on plays in front of an audience. The focus is on word accuracy and expression in reading without having to memorize lines. Studies have shown that Readers' Theatre can strengthen oral reading fluency by repeated readings, and increase confidence and motivation to read as students learn to read their parts with fluency and precision. Unfortunately, due to lack of availability and training, Readers' Theatre is not used in the classroom to the extent it should be, and many educators are uncomfortable with …

Van Buren Riverfront Metamorphosis: The Development Of Space, Juana Gregory Jan 2003

Van Buren Riverfront Metamorphosis: The Development Of Space, Juana Gregory

Inquiry: The University of Arkansas Undergraduate Research Journal

Waterfronts have played an important role in the settlement of North America. Not only did waterfronts provide protection and security to newly forming settlements, but these waterways also provided the opportunity for trade while acting as a major hub of activity and social interaction. Polluted and neglected, riverfronts of the cities were in disrepair. Not until the past few decades have larger cities revisited their waterfronts and realized the amenity that lies at …

Sherman Shorts Out: The Dimming Of Antitrust Enforcement In The California Electricity Crisis, Robert B. Martin Iii

UC Law Journal

This Note examines the potential application of the Sherman Antitrust Act to alleged market manipulations by wholesale electricity generators during the California electricity crisis. Viewed in light of the national movement toward electricity deregulation, this Note summarizes accusations and reports of possible market power abuse by generators operating in California. This Note then analyzes the application of the Sherman Act to those alleged abuses. It determines that section I of the Sherman Act provides appropriate remedies for past market power abuse and serves as a sufficient deterrent to avoid similar abuse in the future. Due to the particular nature of …
