The mammalian fauna of Nicaragua includes seven species in the order Xenarthra, including the brown-throated three-toed sloth (Bradypus variegatus) in the family Bradypodidae, Hoffmann's two-toed sloth (Choloepus hoffmanni) in the family Megalonychidae, the northern naked-tailed armadillo (Cabassous centralis) and nine-banded armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus) in the family Dasypodidae, and the silky anteater (Cyclopes didactylus) and northern tamandua (Tamandua mexicana) in the family Myrmecophagidae. Natural forming multi-agent systems (aka Swarms) have the ability to grow to enormous sizes without requiring any of the agents to oversee the entire system. The success of these systems comes from the fact that agents are simple and the interaction with the environment and neighboring agents is local in nature. In this paper we look at abstractions in the field of swarms and study their applicability in the context of coordination systems. United States Patent Application Publication: Maize Chloroplast Protein Synthesis Elongation Factors And Methods Of Use For Same, Zoran Ristic, Shailendra K. Bhadula, Genping Yang, Thomas Elthon, Jeffrey E. Habben

Center for Plant Science Innovation: Faculty Publications

The invention discloses a novel heat shock protein with high homology to chloroplast elongation factor EF-Tu. Also disclosed is a transgenic method for enhancing tolerance to heat and drought in female reproductive organs. It involves the temporal and spatial expression of novel heat shock EF-Tu in a plant organ or plant tissue. The invention also includes expression constructs, and methods for the production of crop plants with heritable phenotypes which are useful in breeding programs designed to increase heat and drought tolerance.
