Entrepreneurship And Social Endeavours In Singapore, Wee Liang Tan
Entrepreneurship And Social Endeavours In Singapore, Wee Liang Tan
Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business
Many people would confine entrepreneurship to the business arena and entrepreneurs to profit enterprises. In truth, entrepreneurship can extend to all aspects of human activity as defined by Raymond Kao as “the process of doing something new and/or different to create wealth for oneself and to add value to the society” (Kao, 1993). Apart from entrepreneurship that is solely “for profit” and in the business sphere, there is social entrepreneurship. Social entrepreneurship spans a continuum of community-based enterprises and entrepreneurial activities by volunteers for the good of their communities. It also includes philanthropic acts by successful individuals. While many may …

Public Child Welfare And The American Indian: A California Profile, Gordon E. Limb, Robin Perry
Public Child Welfare And The American Indian: A California Profile, Gordon E. Limb, Robin Perry
Faculty Publications
Historically, American Indians have been disproportionately represented in public child welfare services. This article reports findings from a survey of all public child welfare workers in California (N= 5,741) in 1998. A descriptive profile of American Indian clients (where they reside and who works with them) and American Indian child welfare workers ( n= 1 71) is detailed. Attempts are made to identify counties with a disproportionately high number of American Indians represented on public child welfare caseloads and to estimate the probability that an American Indian worker would have a higher proportion of American Indians on his or her …

Police Response To Domestic Violence: Does Officer Gender Make A Difference?, Amy Leighann Whitmore
Sociology & Criminal Justice Theses & Dissertations
With domestic violence an increasing problem within the United States, police response to domestic violence has emerged as an important issue in its prevention and treatment. Recent research on police response to domestic violence has yielded conflicting results, with some studies showing that officer gender affects responses. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect that officer gender has on both formal and informal police responses to domestic violence. Incident reports were collected from a police agency to examine responses to domestic violence.
Results indicated that officer gender does have a significant effect upon both formal and informal …

Army Professional Expertise And Jurisdictions, Richard A. Lacquement Colonel
Army Professional Expertise And Jurisdictions, Richard A. Lacquement Colonel
Books, Monographs & Collaborative Studies
The author provides a framework intended for use by the Army's strategic leaders. But, it also should be a point of departure for debate among all members of the profession. The most important purpose of this framework is to provide a mechanism for HOW TO THINK about Army expert knowledge and jurisdictions. He offers some general recommendations derived from my application of the framework and its logic. These recommendations represent just one possible view. Ultimately, the strategic leaders of the Army will decide priorities and boundaries.

Students’ Cognitive Load On Computer Programming Instructional Process Using Example-Problem-Based Learning And Problem-Based Learning Instructional Model At Vocational High School, Admaja Dwi Herlambang, Muhammad Rifqy Ramadana, Satrio Hadi Wijoyo, Muneeroh Phadung
Elinvo (Electronics, Informatics, and Vocational Education)
This paper fills an essential gap in applying cognitive load theory in teaching computer programming within vocational settings. It is an important area to consider for improving students' learning processes who intend to enter the rapidly changing technology sector. This study assessed the distinct impacts of the instructional paradigms, specifically Example-Problem-Based Learning (EPBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL), on students’ cognitive loads upon framing an iterative structure lesson on computer programming. Vocational programming education is chosen for this purpose because vocational education faces unique challenges in integrating practical skills development with theoretical understanding, and programming tasks involve high cognitive demands.
