A Noble Discontent: The Experiences And Perceptions Of Seven Pre-Service Teachers In An Experimental Course Designed To Examine The Relationship Between Social Consciousness And Education., James Allen Bryant Jr
Theses and Dissertations
The Legacy Project was an experimental course taught in the spring of 2002 at the University of North Dakota. The course was designed to examine the relationship between social consciousness, idealism, and education. A study was conducted of the seven pre-service teachers enrolled in the course to determine their perceptions of and experiences in the class. From this study, four major themes evolved. The first was the perception among the participants that there may often be a “liberal” bias or agenda at work in their college classes. The second was their description of a gradual erosion of idealism as they …

The fast growing charter school movement may be impeded if charter schools are perceived as a vehicle for stratifying, segregating, and balkanizing an already ethnically, socio-economically divided population. This article defines ethnocentric schools and describes three Native Hawai'ian charter schools.

Organic remains can be found in many different environments. They are the most significant source for paleoparasitological studies as well as for other paleoecological reconstruction. Preserved paleoparasitological remains are found from the driest to the moistest conditions. They help us to understand past and present diseases and therefore contribute to understanding the evolution of present human sociality, biology, and behavior. In this paper, the scope of the surviving evidence will be briefly surveyed, and the great variety of ways it has been preserved in different environments will be discussed.
