The Synapse-Net Macro-Architecture: An Integrated, Zero-Vent Framework For Decentralized Interstellar Transit, Christopher L. Eckes
The Synapse-Net Macro-Architecture: An Integrated, Zero-Vent Framework For Decentralized Interstellar Transit, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
Isolated deep-space exploration and long-duration terrestrial survival architectures are traditionally limited by systemic fragmentation, where propulsion, lifesupport, computational processing, and material reclamation operate as discrete, loss-heavy sub-units. This paper introduces the Synapse-Net Macro-Architecture, an un-gatekept, highly integrated engineering ecosystem that unifies exotic propulsion dynamics, solid-state nutritional synthesis, analog wave-based computing, and atomic hydrocarbon recycling into a single thermodynamic loop.
This paper establishes the structural interfaces, data routing protocols, and cross-system mass-energy linkages between four fundamental open-source baselines: the Tension-Line Fusion Tug, the Elemental Transmutation Replicator, the Cymatic Operating System, and the Hydrocarbon Reclamation Matrix. By formally mapping these cross-system dependencies, …
The Readiness Reset: Sleep, Stress, And Pain Management For Tactical Performance, Lauren Fried
The Readiness Reset: Sleep, Stress, And Pain Management For Tactical Performance, Lauren Fried
Tactical & Occupational Performance Conference
Tactical professionals operate in high-demand environments where sleep disruption, chronic stress, and persistent pain are often normalized, but these factors significantly affect readiness, resilience, and long-term performance. This session explores how sleep, stress, and pain interact at the physiological and neurological levels to influence decision-making, recovery, injury risk, and operational effectiveness in first responders and military personnel.
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how nervous system regulation, circadian rhythms, and pain perception affect both physical and cognitive performance under stress. Drawing on current research and applied human performance principles, this session highlights practical, field-applicable strategies that tactical professionals and …
Non-Football: The Hyperrationalized Nothingness Of Sporting Late Capitalism, David L. Andrews
Non-Football: The Hyperrationalized Nothingness Of Sporting Late Capitalism, David L. Andrews
Fast Capitalism
Over the past four decades, the origination and remarkable growth of the English Premier League (EPL, has transformed English football from what was a relatively parochial expression of a predominantly urban working class culture, into a mass entertainment-driven, multiple revenue-streamed, and globally consumed sport spectacle. As such, this discussion engages and extends the voluminous critical scholarship on the EPL as an instructive object of cultural economic inquiry. This is realized through a contextual model of the EPL as a hyper-rationalized non-football assemblage, largely based on a synthetic reading of Manuel DeLanda, Marc Augé, and George Ritzer’s conceptualizing. This model forges …

The Elemental Transmutation Replicator: A Decentralized Blueprint For Closed-Loop Biometric Molecular Synthesis, Christopher L. Eckes
The Elemental Transmutation Replicator: A Decentralized Blueprint For Closed-Loop Biometric Molecular Synthesis, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This white paper introduces a decentralized, zero-agriculture appliance architecture designed to synthesize tailored human nutrition directly from elemental feeds, ambient water vapor, and atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂). The Elemental Transmutation Replicator (ETR) bypasses traditional biological growth cycles by utilizing an ultra-vacuum Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) chamber coupled with a Piezoelectric Acoustic Layering Matrix (PALM) to assemble pure amino acids, medium-chain triglycerides, and essential micro-nutrients atom-by-atom. System inputs are dynamically calibrated in real time via an integrated multi-spectral optical and dermal biometric scanning array. This paper details the structural architecture, the 5-stage synthesis loop, and the thermodynamic solutions required to overcome …
A Rho5-Cnc1-Dnm1 Signalling Module Coordinates Multi-Organelle Execution Of Regulated Cell Death In Yeast, Justin Bauer
A Rho5-Cnc1-Dnm1 Signalling Module Coordinates Multi-Organelle Execution Of Regulated Cell Death In Yeast, Justin Bauer
Theses and Dissertations
Regulated cell death is a conserved process with major implications for health and disease, yet how yeast cells integrate stress signals to determine survival versus death remains unclear. This thesis investigates Cyclin C (Cnc1), a conserved Mediator kinase module component with both transcriptional and mitochondrial roles. Together with Cdk8 Cnc1 primarily represses stress response genes, while upon stress it translocates to the mitochondria to induce mitochondrial fragmentation with the dynamin-related GTPase Dnm1. Using structure-guided separation-of-function mutants, I demonstrate that Cnc1-dependent death requires its mitochondrial function rather than its transcriptional role, and that its effector Dnm1 acts as a signaling node …

A questionnaire survey was administered to 120 engineers to evaluate the influence of ten factors …
The Impact Of Commute Length On Safety And Wellbeing In Uk Construction Workers, Amy Brandreth, Billy Hare, Kenneth Lawani
The Impact Of Commute Length On Safety And Wellbeing In Uk Construction Workers, Amy Brandreth, Billy Hare, Kenneth Lawani
CIB Conferences
This paper, contributing a small part to a related PhD, uses a systematic literature review approach to examine the impact of commuting on fatigue, safety and wellbeing among construction workers. Eight empirical studies were analysed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis with three themes being identified: commute length, long working hours and commuting vs staying away from home. The results indicate that commutes can far exceed the UK average commute length, and this, combined with long working hours, reduces sleep opportunities. However, staying away from home introduces lifestyle and environmental factors, such as diet and exercise, which may also impair …

Nutrition And Wellbeing In Construction: Exploring Dietary Practices For Safer Healthier Workforces, Emmanuel Aboagye-Nimo, Charlie Roberts, Lewis Gough
CIB Conferences
Construction workplaces significant physical and cognitive demands on workers, yet the role of nutrition in supporting energy, concentration and safety is seldom addressed in industry discourse. This study explores how construction workers understand and manage their daily eating habits, and how these habits influence performance, wellbeing and risk. The research forms part of an ongoing qualitative inquiry, using semi‑structured interviews with workers from a range of roles including bricklayers, plasterers, waste management teams and site managers. Early findings indicate considerable variation in nutritional practices, shaped by time pressures, cost, convenience and site routines. While some workers rely heavily on fast …
Optimizing The Use Of Grazed Dryland Pasture In Western Oregon, T E. Bedell
Optimizing The Use Of Grazed Dryland Pasture In Western Oregon, T E. Bedell
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
When they are properly fertilized, western Oregon dryland pastures of subterranean dover with grasses such as perennial rp:g:rass, tall fescue, and resident annuals produce total annual dry-matter yields averaging 6,500 kg/ha. Some sites are capable of over 9,000 kg/ha. Optimum use of this forage is complicated by its highly seasonal availability. Over 50 % of the total growth occurs from late April to mid-June. Only about 10% takes place during autumn-early winter, and virtually none occurs during summer. Research shows livestock weight gains from 300 to over 700 kg/ha can be expected depending upon pasture mixture and kind of grazing …

Diet Quality Considerations In The Design And Management Of Pastures In Seasonally Dry Tropics Of Australia, R L. Mccown, C J. Gardener
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Much of Australian tropical-pasture research in the last 20 years has been aimed at filling the "protein gap" of the dry season with a well-adapted legume. Several such legumes are now available, but their contribution to an improved nutritional regimen has been variable. This paper puts forward generalizations as to the contribution of pasture components to cattle nutrition and attempts to apply this information in devising regional strategies for pasture design and management. The contribution of a forage component is a function of (1) its nutritive value and (2) its relative acceptability. Three components emerge as both highly nutritious and …

Development Of A Pasture Research Program For The Tropical Savanna Region Of Brazil, D Thomas, C P. Moore, W Couto, R P. De Andrade, C.M C. Da Rocha, D T. Gomes
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
The tropical savannas (cerrados) of west central Brazil contain almost 40% of the nation's cattle population. However, the low productivity and nutritive value of the native pastures is a serious limitation to cattle production. To improve the nutrition of the grazing animal, a research program has been developed with emphasis on the integrated use of cultivated pastures. The program aims (1) to select species adapted to the cerrados, (2) to determine their nutrient requirements, and (3) to develop methods of establishment and utilization. The program is being conducted at the Cerrados Agricultural Research Center (CP AC) at lat 15°S. Rainfall …

This paper examines the first year of collaboration between the Bear River Region LGBTQ+ Community Coalition and queer residents in rural northern Utah, United States, using a hybrid participatory design (PD) approach. Using Yep’s queer relationality theory, we examine how hybrid spaces were designed and iteratively adapted to support inclusion, care, and collective agency among LGBTQ+ community members. Drawing on Community Coalition Action Theory and queer PD, we analyze four cases from May 2024 to June 2025 including workshops and regular meetings to explore how relational practices evolved across different formats and phases of coalition development. In this paper, we …

This qualitative narrative study addressed the persistent problem of lower postsecondary completion rates among rural students, particularly first-generation students, whose lower educational attainment contributes to economic challenges and diminished quality of life in rural communities. Guided by Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory, this study examined first-generation rural students’ perceptions of their experiences with secondary and postsecondary advisors and the impact of intrusive advising on postsecondary credential attainment. The study explored how students described advising experiences and how intrusive advising influenced persistence and credential completion. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with first-generation rural students and analyzed using thematic analysis. Five themes …

OBJECTIVE: Vitamin D deficiency is highly prevalent in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and implicated in metabolic dysregulation and cardiovascular disease. This study examined associations between vitamin D deficiency and adverse cardiovascular, metabolic, and mortality outcomes in adults with OSA.
METHODS: This retrospective cohort study utilized the TriNetX Global Collaborative Network spanning 155 healthcare organizations. Adults (≥18 years) with OSA (ICD-10: G47.33) were stratified by serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 into deficient (≤12 ng/mL, n=64,205) and sufficient (≥20 ng/mL, n=64,205) cohorts following 1:1 propensity matching. Primary outcomes included all-cause mortality, myocardial infarction, heart failure, pulmonary embolism, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, …
