Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive

This applied dissertation was designed to reduce fighting and bullying among second and third grade students. The behavioral plans used by individual teachers were ineffective. Students were exhibiting deviant behaviors in the form of fighting, bullying, using profanity and name-calling. Children were being placed in time out, and many were internally and externally suspended for antisocial behaviors. Teachers could not help students resolve conflicts using peaceful methods.

The writer developed a Peace Education curriculum to be used by teachers to reduce deviant behaviors in students. They used daily peace and conflict resolution strategies in their classrooms that assisted children to …

Gay Science As Law: An Outline For A Nietzschean Jurisprudence, Jonathan Yovel Jan 2003

Gay Science As Law: An Outline For A Nietzschean Jurisprudence, Jonathan Yovel

Cardozo Law Review

The main question examined in this study is not merely how a Nietzschean critique of law would look had Nietzsche ever applied his genealogical method to the question of law, but also what positive function Nietzschean philosophy may ascribe to law - and how law must then be transformed. The methodological parable imagines a "post-genealogy" or "post-ressentiment" phase of the human condition, akin to the Marxist "post-revolutionary" phase: How would law look for the person of power - overman or otherwise - who needs to live among others? How is normativity possible - what are its forms and …

Although the participants of the host community continued to make progress academically and are currently in their expected grades they have struggled in the area of reading. None of them have been identified by school officials as students who struggle with reading consequently, these students are not receiving special services in the schools they attend. As a result, African American …

Ethical Decision Making In Speech-Language Pathology: What Is The Difference In Perception Between Faculty And Second Year Graduate Students?, Kerrilyn R. Phillips

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether speech-language pathology faculty perceptions of ethical behavior are different from speech-language pathology graduate students’ perceptions of ethical behavior. Participants consisted of 34 second-year speech-language pathology graduate students and 27 faculty members from Council of Academic Accreditation (CAA) training programs in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana. All participants completed an investigator-designed instrument consisting of ethical scenarios. Thirty-two pre-coded completed packets were returned (56% return rate) and analyzed to determine personality profiles and leadership styles for the respondents. No significant personality type was identified among participants. However, participants’ profiles indicated sensing (46%) and judging (56%) as dominant personality traits. The results suggested that there are no significant relationships between the MBTI personality types and …
