Agustín Gómez-Arcos, a bilingual dramatist and novelist, was born in 1933 in the village of Enix (Almeria). The origins of his theater can be traced to his childhood experiences, in which he witnessed firsthand the horrors of the Spanish Civil War and the dark clouds of oppression of the Francoist regime, images that left indelible imprints on his literature and his life. Although in the future he would leave behind both native country and language, his memories of the Civil War and postwar period would continue to surface in his plays.

The switching function was primarily entrusted to Layer 2 of the OSI model, i.e. the Data Link Layer. A Layer 2 switch performs forwarding decisions by analyzing the MAC (Media Access Control) address of the destination segment in the frame. The Layer 2 switch checks for the destination address and transmits the packet to the appropriate segment if the address is present in its table of known destinations. If the entry for that address is not present, the switch then forwards the packet to all segments except the one on which it came from. This is known as flooding. When …

The purpose of this thesis was to determine whether John Deere's packaging process needed to be streamlined, and whether consideration should be given to engaging the packaging department earlier in the product development process. An IMPACT study produced a flowchart of the current packaging system, which identified gaps in the current packaging process. Evaluation of the IMPACT study isolated the packaging process areas that needed to be modified to create an improved packaging decision process. A survey was then given to several thousand Deere dealers to determine whether Deere's packaging and delivery of service parts was meeting customer expectations. The …

Purpose. To assess the feelings of physicians about assisting female victims of intimate-partner violence (IPV), and to examine factors related to positive and negative feelings about assisting victims of IPV.

Method. In 1998, a total site sample of 150 physicians practicing in a large general hospital in the area of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was surveyed by questionnaire via the mail. Four specialties were represented: emergency medicine, family practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and psychiatry. Purpose: This study evaluated microleakage associated with cast restorations that were luted with a resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RelyX) following obturation of the dentinal tubules with either a desensitizing agent (Gluma Desensitizer) or an adhesive system (Scotchbond Multipurpose Dental Adhesive). The effect of acid etching on the removal of the smear layer and its influence on the extent of microleakage associated with the adhesive system was also evaluated.

Axial turbomachines have inherently unstable flow fields due to the interaction between rotating and nonrotating blade rows. In addition, combustor instabilities add considerable stress on the blading via the introduction of localized radial and/or circumferential temperature discontinuities known as hot streaks. To alleviate the losses due to nonconformities within the turbine a computational effort has been undertaken investigating the effects of clocking an imbedded stage in a multi- stage axial turbine and a separate study considering the effects of an imposed temporally oscillating hot streak within a 1 1/2 stage turbine. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer mortality in women in the United States. Because the majority of risk factors for breast cancer are not modifiable, early detection methods such as mammography are essential. However, concern exists for the equitable provision and use of mammography services in the U.S. Mammography is ofien underutilized by various subpopulations resulting, potentially, in these groups not experiencing the benefits of early detection. A subpopulation that has received little attention in the study of mammography utilization encompasses persons classified as disabled.

Approximately 50% to 80% of pregnant women complain of low back pain, edema, and other discomforts. Although exercise programs have been recommended to decrease the discomforts of pregnancy and improve body image. There is a paucity of research in this area. There is very little research on exercise in water, despite theoretical and empirical advantages of such activity.

The aim of this study was to determine if a buccal curvature in the palatal roots of maxillary molars affected the clinician’s ability to accurately determine working length. Twenty-seven extracted, human maxillary molars were sorted by palatal root curvatures as J- and C-type and the angle of curvature was determined. Straight-line access was made and a #20 file was placed into the canal until the tip was visible at the apical foramen then withdrawn. The file, tooth and calibration wire were radiographed on one image using the RVG. Actual (file) and radiographic (tooth) lengths were determined using the RVG ruler. …

Resource dependence and financial theory guided the methodology. According to resource dependence theory, organizations desire to remain autonomous until they are faced with scarce resources. A content analysis of pharmaceutical product ads targeted toward pediatricians in the professional media was conducted to determine the extent to which they were informative as well as the quantity and types of information presented. The content analysis model selected was based on previously published and widely implemented standards that have been documented to support research propositions. The study analyzed 67 separate products ads that were published in pediatrician-targeted journals during the first half of 2002. The unusual charge-transfer complexes of various arene donors (ArH) with the nitrosonium cation (NO⁺) resulting from bimolecular [1 ∶ 1] associations can be extended at suitably high ArH concentrations to termolecular processes leading to the analogous [2 ∶ 1] complexes. Spectral analyses of the intense color changes accompanying the arene interaction with NO⁺ provide optimum conditions for the isolation of pure crystalline ternary complexes. Single crystal X-ray crystallographic determinations establish the unique sandwich structure consisting of the NO moiety interposed (parallel) between a pair of cofacial arene donors—reminiscent of the well-known transition metal sandwich complexes with aromatic …
