Painting Out The Messiah: The Theologies Of Dissidents, John L. Clark

Journal of Book of Mormon Studies

Despite the establishment of Christ’s church in the New World by the Book of Mormon prophet Nephi, many dissenters during its thousand-year history attempted to thwart the church and preach alternative theologies. This article first discusses the doctrine that Nephi taught to his people concerning Jesus Christ. Historical context then provides further understanding of the society in which Nephi and his descendants lived. Having come from Jerusalem in the Old World, the Nephites were still accustomed to the law of Moses, which certainly would have influenced their view of a Messiah. This thesis is a history of the Cherokee Freedmen in Indian Territory from 1866 to 1898. Cherokee Freedmen were the former slaves of the Cherokee Nation of Indians. The position of Black Freedmen in Cherokee society before and after the Civil War differed from those of freedmen from southern states. The future of Freedmen in the Cherokee Nation was one of the many issues used by the Federal government to slowly dismantle Cherokee sovereignty. The purpose of this thesis is to explain the unique position the Cherokee Freedmen held in Indian Territory. Little research has been done concerning this part …

Dr. Jerry G. Nye (1932-2015) was a tenured member of SWOSU faculty in the Language Arts Department from 1967-1999, serving as department chair for 22 years. After retiring, Dr. Nye stayed with SWOSU and taught as professor emeritus until 2014. While teaching as professor emeritus, Dr. Nye contributed to The Lindsay News newspaper with a column titled “Matchbook Memories.”

This is a digitization of Dr. Nye’s “Matchbook Memories” records and working files.

These documents were scanned in their current state and may contain some mismatched papers left in place by Dr. Nye.

With this trend in mind, members of the Comparative Library Organization Committee (CLOC), a LAMA/LOMS standing committee, decided that a list of required readings is in order. To say that the Plains volume of the Smithsonian Institution's Handbook of North American Indians has been long awaited is a literal as well as a figurative verity. Research for the volume began in 1971, then stalled until 1985, when Raymond DeMallie took over as editor and reinvigorated the project. In the 1980s, media reports of the state of geography in United States schools and national assessments documenting the failing grades of American students resulted in a campaign to eradicate geographic illiteracy. As a result, there have been many reforms made in geography education, including the development of national geography standards. The National Geographic Society developed a Geography Education Foundation to introduce a grassroots movement for curricula change through teacher inservice institutes. Many attempts to reduce Human Error (HE) in aviation have been applied in the past. However, HE remains the largest reported cause of accidents and incidents in aviation. The present study was designed to implement a novel training method to produce voluntary control over the autonomic nervous system (ANS). Twenty-one participants flew a PC based F-16 flight simulator. There were three conditions: 1. Stress-Counter Response training (SCR), 2, traditional biofeedback training, and 3. A control. It was hypothesized that the SCR training group would show improved physiological control, better flight performance, and lower subjective workload ratings compared to the other …
