Insertion Of Proteins Into The Inner Membrane Of Mitochondria: The Role Of The Oxa1 Complex, Rosemary A. Stuart

The inner mitochondrial membrane harbors a large number of proteins that display a wide range of topological arrangements. The majority of these proteins are encoded in the cell's nucleus, but a few polytopic proteins, all subunits of respiratory chain complexes are encoded by the mitochondrial genome. A number of distinct sorting mechanisms exist to direct these proteins into the mitochondrial inner membrane. One of these pathways involves the export of proteins from the matrix into the inner membrane and is used by both proteins synthesized within the mitochondria, as well as by a subset of nuclear encoded proteins. The Frat was the official member publication of the National Fraternal Society of the Deaf (NFSD). First established in 1902, the publication ran for just over a century, until its closure in 2006.---NFSD was an insurance business established in 1901. Its purposes were to provide insurance to mainly Deaf members, to serve as an advocate for the Deaf, and to provide community service and recreational opportunities through divisional activities. The existing insurance coverage was transferred to the Catholic Order of Foresters in 2005. The NFSD disbanded in 2007.---The Frat's main purpose was to keep members apprised of the activities of …

To assess the relationship between marsh area and relative abundance of tidal marsh bird species, we surveyed birds on 86 circular plots in 40 salt and brackish tidal marshes in Connecticut. We measured marsh area in two ways: the amount of contiguous marsh vegetation not interrupted by broad barriers (>500 m of open water or >50 m of upland habitat) and by narrow barriers (>30 m of open water or >10 m upland). Projecting Sow Farrowings Using Hogs And Pigs Reports, Matthew Diersen

Farrowing intentions are a primary indicator of U.S. swine supplies. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) summarizes producers’ intentions in its Quarterly Hogs and Pigs reports. In its Monthly Hogs and Pigs reports, NASS gives breakdowns of monthly sow farrowings, pig crops, and sows bred. When farrowing intentions or reported farrowings indicate large potential supplies, producers are able to adjust their production levels or forward price to get the highest returns for their swine. Thus, having a better assessment of future swine supplies will allow producers to adjust farrowings and reduce their business risk.

Health Policy and Management Issue Briefs

This Policy Brief examines behavioral health managed care contracting under separately administered State Children's Health Insurance Programs (SCHIP), i.e., programs that operate under the direct authority of Title XXI of the Social Security Act rather than as expansions of Medicaid. Most separate SCHIP programs buy managed care style health insurance for some or most of their enrolled children. Because Title XXI provides states with far greater administrative flexibility than Medicaid with respect to coverage and benefit design, provision of services, and administration of managed care arrangements, studying separate SCHIP managed care products sheds important light on how states might approach …
