Traditional And Nontraditional Foster Parenting, Angela M. Baranzelli-Yoder
Traditional And Nontraditional Foster Parenting, Angela M. Baranzelli-Yoder
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Foster parents in nontraditional foster care programs receive more extensive, ongoing training and support than foster parents in traditional foster care programs. This study examined whether differences exist in the levels of perceived parenting stress, satisfaction, and efficacy among traditional and nontraditional foster parents. Twenty-four foster parents completed the Parenting Stress Index (PSI) and the Parenting Sense of Competence scale (PSOC). Nontraditional foster parents reported higher levels of overall parenting stress and lower levels of foster parent role satisfaction than did traditional foster parents. However, response profiles indicated that nontraditional foster parents had children with more emotional and behavioral problems …

The Effects Of Multicultural Factors On The Supervision Working Alliance, Derya Suzen
The Effects Of Multicultural Factors On The Supervision Working Alliance, Derya Suzen
Theses and Dissertations
The working relationship is important in all models of supervision. Bordin’s (1983) description of the working alliance in supervision suggests one important way of looking at the supervisory relationship. The purpose of the study was to investigate the extent to which the supervisor’s and supervisee’s perception of the supervisory working alliance is related to their multicultural characteristics (age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic background, religion, relationship status, and physical disability) during the supervisees’ pre-doctoral internship year.
Individual participants were psychology interns and their individual supervisors recruited from APA-accredited university counseling centers through out the United States. Forty-nine intern-supervisor pairs responded during …

Health Professions And Cooperative Extension: An Emerging Partnership, Erin P. Condo, Kenneth E. Martin
Journal of Extension
This article reports on the effectiveness of the project "Health Professions and Cooperative Extension: An Emerging Partnership" in providing community-based learning experiences for health professions students and in enhancing efforts of Extension. The grant project was awarded to seven health professions students in four states. Evaluation of final student reports and interviews of administrators, specialists, and county agents were conducted to determine the extent of service-learning benefits to the student, partnership development in communities, and benefits to Extension. Despite the challenges to implementing this project for the first time, students, communities, and Extension benefited greatly.
