Cost Of Community Services In Sanpete County, Utah For Fy 1999-2000, E. Bruce Godfrey, Jeff Sanders

Economic Research Institute Study Papers

This study is similar to other cost of government services studies that have been conducted in the United States and represents the second study done in Utah. But the results are different from previous studies in two important ways. First, the estimated payment of taxes by the agricultural/rural sector was generally not greater than the estimated services received for the units of government in Sanpete County, Utah, that were studied. Secondly, a recreational home sector was identified with subsequent estimation of revenues paid and government services obtained by this sector. Separation of this sector from the ruraVagricultural sector had a …

Constructing A Stage For Play: Sport, Recreation, And Leisure In London, Ontario, 1867-1914, Robert S. Kossuth

Digitized Theses

The central question raised in this study is how were sport, leisure, and

recreation practices established in London, Ontario between 1867 and 1914. Specifically, how and why did this aspect of people’s lives become increasingly constructed and regulated. Substantively, this investigation is concerned with the process through which forms of sport, recreation, and leisure were shaped within the public, private, and commercial spheres.

This historical study examines the place of sport, recreation, and leisure in one Canadian city. It is necessary that the local experience be understood prior to considering studies of larger geographical regions. In order to assess this …

A Case History Of Wolf-Human Encounters In Alaska And Canada, Mark E. Mcnay, Mary V. Hicks Jan 2002

A Case History Of Wolf-Human Encounters In Alaska And Canada, Mark E. Mcnay, Mary V. Hicks

Rocky Mountain Wolf Recovery: Annual Reports

Executive Summary

Currently there are an estimated 59,000-70,000 wolves (Canis lupus) in Alaska and Canada. Past reviews of wolf-human interactions concluded that wild, healthy wolves in North America present little threat to human safety. However, since 1970 some cases have appeared in the published literature documenting wold aggression toward people. A wolf attack on a 6-year-old boy near Icy Bay, Alaska in April 2000 generated debate in Alaska that challenged previous assumptions regarding the potential danger of wolves to people. At that time there was no recently compiled record of wolf-human encounters for either Alaska or Canada.

The New Institutional Italian Organization: The Federalism - The Experience Of Other European States And The U.S. System, Nerio Marino

St. Thomas Law Review

In 1860 Italy turned into a nation, indeed one year later, on March, 17, the Kingdom of Italy was proclaimed under the Savoy Royal Family. However the unity of Italy was completed only in 1866, with the annexation of Veneto and definitely in 1870 with the conquest of Rome. Since then the Boot (Italy), more than any other European country, have had all the premises to become a federal state.
