African Diaspora ISPs
This paper seeks to explore how the mission education system has and continues to affect the Ghanaian mind/mentality. Christianity was introduced into West African culture by European colonizers, whose aims were domination and exploitation at any cost. Consequently, the Christian faith in Ghana is undeniably linked to western perceptions, interests and influences. This study explores: 1. The Aims of the Christian Mission 2. The Mission Education System 3. The Contemporary School System 4. Ghanaian Self-Orientation 5. The Affects of Christian Based Education System

From Peepshow To Prayer: Toward A Spirituality Of The Movies, Richard Blake
From Peepshow To Prayer: Toward A Spirituality Of The Movies, Richard Blake
Journal of Religion & Film
A century has passed since peepshows were the rage, and it may be useful at this time to broaden the question of religion and film from morality to spirituality. Some review of the more familiar questions may position the less familiar. Why indeed should theologians, church people and those who take religion as a significant social phenomenon be interested in film at all? Beyond questions public morality, is there any such thing as a religious film? If there is, at what points do film and theology intersect, if any, and what light can one shed on the other, if any? …

The Holy, Non-Christic Biblical Subtexts In Superman: The Movie (1978) And Superman Ii (1981), Anton K. Kozlovic
Journal of Religion & Film
The sacred-secular parallels between Jesus Christ and Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman in Superman: The Movie (1978) and Superman II (1981) were explicated previously in JR&F. Despite the persuasive Christic subtext, the richness of the biblical parallels within these two SF films did not stop with just an alien Messiah. Further engineered biblical correspondences existed that complemented the Christic subtext and uprated the overall sanctity of the filmic narratives. Three areas of holy infranarratives were identified and explicated pertaining to: (a) divine figurations, (b) blessed parents, and (c) holy associates. Further research into this exciting field was recommended.

Economic Currents: The State Of The State Economy, Alan Clayton-Matthews
Economic Currents: The State Of The State Economy, Alan Clayton-Matthews
Public Policy and Public Affairs Faculty Publication Series
Massachusetts is still in a recession. Forecasts made earlier in the year — that the state economy would be experiencing modest growth by now — have been revised. Instead, it continues to contract. Joining long-suffering sectors such as technology and manufacturing, finance and state government are now making employment cuts. Even consumers, whose continued spending has been a last stronghold of the state economy, are showing signs of distress. Will the Commonwealth follow the nation on the road to recovery, or is our trajectory taking us elsewhere?

Why Relative Economic Position Does Not Matter: A Cost Benenit Analysis, Thomas J. Kniesner, W. Kip Viscusi
Why Relative Economic Position Does Not Matter: A Cost Benenit Analysis, Thomas J. Kniesner, W. Kip Viscusi
Center for Policy Research
The current debate over cost-benefit concerns in agencies’ evaluations of government regulations is not so much whether to consider costs and benefits at all but rather what belongs in the estimated costs and benefits. Overlaid is the long-standing belief that the distribution of costs and benefits needs some consideration in policy evaluations. In a recent article in the University of Chicago Law Review, Robert Frank and Cass Sunstein proposed a relatively simple method for adding distributional concerns to policy evaluation that enlarges the typically constructed estimates of the individual’s willingness to pay for safer jobs or safer products. One might …
A Copernican View Of Health Care Antitrust, William M. Sage, Peter J. Hammer
A Copernican View Of Health Care Antitrust, William M. Sage, Peter J. Hammer
Faculty Scholarship
Sage and Hammer use the analogy of Copernican astronomy to suggest that understanding the dramatic change wrought by managed care requires a conceptual reorientation regarding the meaning of competition in health care and its appropriate legal and regulatory oversight. Both share the belief that misperceiving the world limits potential for technical and social progress.
