Method And Composition For Treatment Of Ischemic Neuronal Reperfusion Injury, Harpal S. Mangat, Gerry Ballough, Gary Brown
Method And Composition For Treatment Of Ischemic Neuronal Reperfusion Injury, Harpal S. Mangat, Gerry Ballough, Gary Brown
USF Patents
Methods and compositions for treatment of, or protection from, neuropathy resulting from reperfusion injury upon reversal of an ischemic condition, comprising treatment or prophylactic treatment of the patient with an antagonist of the type 3 ryanodine receptor, such that a rise in cytosolic Ca2+ concentration is prevented. Therapeutic compositions containing dantrolene or aminodantrolene are administered to the patient to prevent a rise in cytosolic Ca2+ that would otherwise result in Ca2+ -mediated neuronal damage. Treatment of ischemic optic neuropathy by this method is shown, and the methods and compositions presented are also applicable to other ischemic reperfusion …

The English Primeirship: My Introduction To The Beautiful Game In England, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
Outlined on a blue-gray October sky, or was it a September sky? Actually it was both and it was football. The four horsemen of Notre Dame were nowhere to be seen nor was Grantland Rice. It was English Premiership football and now after attending two games and watching others on television I am beginning to get a feel for this sport that makes Americans yawn and the world go into a frenzy.

“Leaders are like conductors.” Peruse a half dozen management journals, and it is likely that the analogy “leaders are like conductors” will show up at least once, frequently citing the same Peter Drucker quote. Correspondingly, music journals are as likely to proclaim “conductors are like great leaders” (Armstrong, 1996). As intuitively true as this may seem, little research has been done to study the leadership characteristics of conductors. Instead, the study of conductors has focused primarily on their artistic abilities. This study was aimed at filling that gap. Most conductors perform globally, and thus the analogy of conductor to leader …

Thoughts On Some Shabbat Prayers, Martin Zwick
Thoughts On Some Shabbat Prayers, Martin Zwick
Complex Systems Faculty Publications and Presentations
What follows are thoughts about several of the Shabbat and daily prayers which are collected together, with translations, in Shiru Ladonai, a Siddur prepared by Rabbi Aryeh Hirschfield. These thoughts reflect how I understand the prayers, what they mean to me when I am able to make a personal connection with them. Most of the ideas expressed below are not original, but draw from a variety of sources. The format is the following: the Hebrew prayer, or a fragment of it, is followed by an English translation, usually R. Aryeh's but occasionally my own, and then by an interpretation or …

We present accounts for 40 species of mammals collected from 15 localities in the Mongolian People's Republic. Accounts include taxonomic, morphometric, reproductive and ecological information, as well as trap effort and success. In addition, we include a brief history of mammalogical work within Mongolia, a taxonomically updated species list for the country, and a list of institutions with holdings of Mongolian mammals.
