Women Hunters And Modernity: A Nietzschean Analysis, Deborah S. Wilson
Women Hunters And Modernity: A Nietzschean Analysis, Deborah S. Wilson
Masters Theses
Patriarchy and false consciousness are two concepts that scholars use to explain why women hunt. I attempt to understand this activity through a perspective that focuses on experience and meaning. Based on interviews with women who hunt, I contend that their accounts correspond with Nietzsche's characterization of Greek tragedy, reflecting a conscious opposition to certain aspects of modernity.

Daughter Of Liberty Wedded To Law: Gender And Legal Education At The University Of Pennsylvania Department Of Law 1870-1900, Bridget J. Crawford
Elisabeth Haub School of Law Faculty Publications
Using the University of Pennsylvania's Law Department and, to some extent, the figure of Carrie Burnham Kilgore as lenses, this article examines a thirty year period of major changes in legal education. In Part I, Prof. Crawford describes the historical roots of the school and its halting establishment in light of the predominant role individual lawyers played in training students through law office clerkships. Part II details several related changes in the legal profession in the 1870s: the law office declined in prominence; bar associations became more active; and law schools developed rigorous requirements. In particular, Prof. Crawford describes the …

Kukuchi-Fujimito Disease, Mona A. Al-Nazer, Ali M. Al-Hadad, Soror A. Al-Aithan, Ahmed H. Al-Salem, Ahmed A. Al-Faraj, Hussain H. Al-Saeed
Saudi Medical Journal
OBJECTIVE: Kukuchi-Fujimito disease is a rare, benign and self limiting condition, which usually presents with lymphadenopathy or fever of an unknown etiology, or both. Its rarity, as well as the similarity of its clinical features to other more common conditions, contribute to overlooking it in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with lymphadenopathy or fever of an unknown etiology. METHODS: The study was carried out at Qatif Central Hospital, Qatif, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. All lymph node excisional biopsies received in the histopathology laboratory between 1989 and 1999 were evaluated and those diagnosed as Kukuchi-Fujimito disease were reviewed for clinical …

International Intellectual Property, Access To Health Care, And Human Rights: South Africa V. United States, Winston P. Nagan
UF Law Faculty Publications
This Article examines the question of access to patented medicines in international law. It analyzes the extent to which international agreements may lawfully limit affordable versions of these medicines that may be available through parallel imports or compulsory licensing procedures. It considers the concept of intellectual property rights from a national and international perspective to determine how these rights must be sensitive to matters of national sovereignty when extraordinary, life-threatening diseases afflict societies in catastrophic ways. This Article suggests that viewing property (including intellectual property) as a human right requires that its scope be delimited and understood in the context …

ETSU Today [magazine]
By the time this magazine arrives in your mailbox, the East Tennessee State University campus will have experienced yet another unforgettable mountain springtime. The pink and white dogwoods blooming all around the campus remind us of the constant renewal of life. As I walk around these grounds so alive with color, I think about the enormous promise that life holds for our students and recent graduates. Honors banquets and initiations take place almost nightly each April. Classes often meet outside under our old oak trees. Summer plans are set in place for jobs back home, study abroad, or an early …

Examples of Student Diversity
The vignettes and short snapshots in this booklet give the reader just a hint of the richness and diversity of experiences of IMSA alumni from Central and Southern Illinois. Space precludes telling so many other stories, of how horizons broadened as students accepted the opportunities at IMSA.
Thank you to Series Editor Cathy Veal, Vice President for Advancement, whose vision brought these booklets to life. lean Bigger of IMSA's Furnas Information Resource Center (IRC) created the title, design concepts, and the montage. She and Angela Richardson of the IRC gave invaluable ongoing counsel. Many thanks also to Jerre Henriksen, Juan …
