Abstract Chief Academic Officer (CAO) is the most common position title before assuming the presidency of a college or university. Results from a national survey are used to develop a profile of the CAO in each respective Carnegie institutional classification. The typical CAO in four-year institutions is Caucasian, male, 54 years old, and married. He holds a doctoral degree, most likely in humanities or social sciences, and has held the CAO position for 5 or fewer years. Most often, the CAO served as a Dean or Associate Dean in the previous position. All CAOs have classroom experience, but 3% have …

Chemical Bonding, Elasticity, And Valence Force Field Models: A Case Study For Α-Pt2si And Ptsi, Gus L. W. Hart, J. E. Klepeis, O. Beckstein, O. Pankratov
Faculty Publications
We have carried out a detailed study of the chemical bonding for two room-temperature stable platinum silicide phases, tetragonal α-Pt2Si. These elements of the bonding are further analyzed by constructing valence force field models using the results from recent first principles calculations of the six (nine) independent, nonzero elastic constants of α-Pt2Si (PtSi). The resulting volume-, radial-, and angular-dependent force constants provide insight into the relative strength of various bonding elements as well as the trends observed in the elastic constants themselves. The valence force field analysis yields quantitative information about the nature of the chemical bonding that is not …

Approximately 70cm past this 1.2m x 1.2m area was a visual PMR2A. [The Victim] had an indication from his metal detector and was investigating this reading. He had cut the vegetation and was in the process of turning around to get his detector to pin point the reading when he placed the outside of his left foot on the mine and it detonated.
