The adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1982, constituted the major political and legal achievement that the International community has ever achieved, regarding the uses of the sea. This dissertation is a study of economic concepts of ship scrapping, various toxic substances available on ships, their adverse effects on the environment in south Asian ship scrapping countries and possible solutions to raise the standards of ship scrapping to make it safe for the environment and human health. Ships, after the end of their economic life, are scrapped to recover many valuable materials, which are either recycled or reused. Ship scrapping is labour intensive. The Emplacement Age Of Gabbroic Rocks And Associated Granitoids Of The Liganga-Msanyo Complex, South Eastern Tanzania, M. A. H. Maboko

The Msanyo Gabbro and the associated Mdando granitoids, which intrude Paleoproterozoic high-grade metamorphic rocks of the Ubendian Belt in southern Tanzania, yield imprecise Sm-Nd whole rock isochron ages of 1608±134 Ma (ε (Nd) = 2.1) and 1642±100 Ma (ε (Nd) = 1.6), respectively. These ages are indistinguishable at the 95% confidence level, indicating that the two rock suites were intruded at the same time. A more precise estimate of the time of emplacement is provided by a 5-point mineral isochron age of 1505±42 obtained from one of the gabbro samples. RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS. INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT. Amends the California Constitution to add a personal right to keep and bear arms for defense of self, family, and home. Requires state to prove a compelling government interest for any action regulating the keeping and bearing of arms. Provides that this amendment, and such state laws as it allows, take precedence over county, city, and local government regulations on this subject. Allows the state to continue regulating the acquisition or possession of arms by felons, minors, mentally incompetent persons, or persons subject to restraining orders based on their violent conduct. …

STATE REIMBURSEMENTS TO LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT. Requires state to reimburse local governments for costs, reduced revenues, funds, or amount paid by or charged to that local government for state requirements that: create new programs or higher service levels in existing programs; increase local government's share of jointly funded programs; reduce local government's share of local taxes, fees, vehicle license fees; reduce revenues from fines and forfeitures; or modify special fund allocations. Permits Legislature to suspend local government reimbursement for two fiscal years in 10 year period. Creates presumption local government entitled to reimbursement. Requires public financial accountability process. …
