Improvement To The International Bathymetric Chart Of The Arctic Ocean (Ibcao): Updating The Data Base And The Grid Model, Martin Jakobsson, Norman Cherkis

The project to develop the IBCAO grid model was initiated in 1997 with the objective of providing to the Arctic research community an improved portrayal of the seabed north of 64-deg N, in a form suitable for digital manipulation and visualization. The model was constructed from a compilation of all single-beam and multibeam echo soundings that were available for the polar region, complemented where appropriate by newly released contour information. The grid features a cell size of 2.5 x 2.5 km on a polar stereographic projection; it is constructed on the WGS 84 datum, with true scale at 75-deg N. …

Spectral Modeling Of A Six-Color Inkjet Printer, Lawrence Taplin

After customizing an Epson Stylus Photo 1200 by adding a continuous-feed ink system and a cyan, magenta, yellow, black, orange and green ink set, a series of research tasks were carried out to build a full spectral model of the printers output. First, various forward printer models were tested using the fifteen two color combinations of the printer. Yule- Nielsen-spectral-Neugebauer (YNSN) was selected as the forward model and its accuracy tested throughout the colorant space. It was found to be highly accurate, performing as well as a more complex local, cellular version. Next, the performance of nonlinear optimization-routine algorithms were …

Perspectives Of Teacher Leaders In An Educational Reform Environment: Finding Meaning In Their Involvement, Ginny Birky

The purpose of this qualitative research study was to describe the experiences of secondary teachers who were actively involved in positions of teacher leadership in their schools and to discover the meaning that leadership activities had for them in their work. The informal teacher leaders performed their leadership functions in an environment of educational reform and change, voluntarily, and on their own time.
The study was framed and described by data gathered primarily through a series of in-depth interviewing, based on a structure for phenomenological interviewing by Seidman. The individual interviews were audio taped and transcribed in full text. Other …
