The purpose of this project was to develop a recruitment plan to increase Central Washington University's enrollment of freshmen students from the state of Washington. To develop this plan, current research and literature related to increasing ·enrollment at institutions of higher education were researched and reviewed. A review of current strategies was also conducted and the new plan developed. The plan will be offered to the Director of Admissions at Central Washington University for consideration for implementation.

OBJECTIVE: Neurocognitive deficits associated with schizophrenia include difficulties with working memory, executive function, sustained attention spans, abstract thinking and planning ability. This study evaluated the effectiveness of scaffolding technique in improving the neurocognitive deficits of schizophrenics. METHODS: Thirty-five schizophrenic male patients were recruited for this study from a tertiary care hospital and a private psychiatric out-patient clinic. However, only 20 patients met the inclusion criteria for this research. All subjects were Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (Fourth Edition) diagnosed schizophrenics. Psychopathology was assessed using the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale. Wisconsin Card Sorting Test was utilized to assess patients’ …

The Quality Of Clinical Notes At A Psychiatric Hospital In Saudi Arabia, Khalid S. Al-Gelban, Hasan S. Al-Amri

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to display the quality of the clinical notes at Abha Psychiatric Hospital out-patient clinics. METHODS: In this chart review study, a total of 380 charts were randomly collected, and reviewed for the clinical items that should be included in the psychiatric clinical notes. Each chart note quality was indicated as good, fair or poor based on means and standard deviations. RESULTS: The quality of clinical notes was good in 16.3%, fair in 71.1% and poor in 12.6% of the total records. CAN THE TORTOISE STILL BEAT THE HARE? Can the tortoise even enter the race with its fabled competitor? Unfortunately, the desert tortoise is threatened with extinction and, consequently, most United States populations of this biological wonder are listed under the federal Endangered Species Act (ESA or Act) as a result of rampant habitat loss and other human causes. As desert tortoise numbers have declined, the species has also suffered from disease and predation.

The Regulation Of Manganese Superoxide Dismutase And Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase By Nuclear Factor-Kappa B And Activator Protein 1 In Rat Aortic Endothelial Cells, Scott L. Cobbs

Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD) are two enzymes that influence reactive oxygen species within the cell. The promoter regions for the genes encoding these enzymes have two specific transcription factor elements in common, activator protein 1 (AP-1) and nuclear factor kappa b (NF-KB). This study was initiated to determine if either NF-KB or AP-1 regulates the transcription of both genes in endothelial cells. To test whether NF-KB or AP-1 binding sites in the MnSOD and iNOS promoter region were important for transcriptional regulation, we performed induction analysis using various deletion constructs of MnSOD and iNOS …
